What a useless book. It's ok information but major part of a book is just pure text without any drawings or schematics which might be helpful for beginners. Then you finally get to the part of the book where some examples are given, like this one:

This was taken straight from this book. (edited)

All these AI books are useless and it is beyond me why they keep being voted hot. It's literally all information you could Google in two seconds but the websites would have proper pictures/diagrams rather than stock photos.

This is an absolute load of rubbish.

    Pointless download.

    Don't waste your time.

Having now looked at this, it’s basically a description of plumbing systems. What’s rather lacking though is any sign of how to deal with any problems!

    YouTube.....easier
    stamfordblue's avatar
Absolutely.I've watched ex plumber dereton33 on there.
    Really helpful and useful.

I wonder if they do one on brain surgery or how to transplant a heart, mind you that's probably in the plumbing guide.
    laccc's avatar
Most diy stuff can be done with working hands and brain.. I never call tradesman for simple jobs.. I reckon leave surgery stuff for the doctors
  6. innocent's avatar
Seriously, good spot. Even if you can't mend it, it gives you an idea of where the problem could lie and make arrangements to get it fixed at realistic cost!
    rob28's avatar
There's no reasonable cost when it comes to plumbing, I'm in the trade and still cost 60 quid to cap a gas pipe on a kitchen ripout 10 minute job but we are snookered as gas safe have us all by the goolies.

Easy to watch and visualise any related topic in YouTube then to read this book and try to work out things after reading...

I personally thanks lots of plumbers, Gas engineers and DIYers to adding so much of content on YouTube, that you are never short to master certain skills without taking any SERIOUS RISKs or shortcuts, with correct advice.

Since watching videos on YouTube it gives me confidence to do certain things by myself like replacing taps, washing, sanding, sealing driveway. Learned more skills by watching videos on gardening outdoor projects like putting shed, repairs etc.

Replacing and adding new silicon across bath, other moderate repairs, etc.
So much more to learn and fun to do... It also gives you feeling of achievement.

O yeah last week, by watching you tube video I had replaced my car's right wing mirror signal. £30 parts order from ebay + £2 T10 screwdriver from amazon = job done.

: You’ve posted some excellent books, and seeing your name was a sign of something worth looking at.

Big mistake here I’m afraid. As most of the recent comments say, this is just a pile of junk.

Fair comment mate. I don't always get it right, impossible to check every post, but I try my best to post on as many different topics of interest as possible and seek out new titles as often as possible that haven't been previously posted. I accept your comment fully as a constructive criticism. I'm sorry on this occasion that clearly the book hasn't met expectations. (edited)

Mods really need to be looking at these junky free A.I. kindle books.

They really are clogging up this website and spoiling it recently, this one being on the Top Deals for the day list etc. (edited)

Thing is what I found things like in the book something simple as say turn the stop cock off. In practice one might find in real world it’s seized or diff access or something and there are horror stories online of people shearing the thing off and searching the street in panic for the other one. Not a plumber but can do the maths on a cold main and can see could easily have a flood in next to no time.

One thing that helped at least what I did was getting to grips with imperial measurements etc. then reading up on bsp, male, female. But little nuances like chrome plated copper pipes and sealing etc. in b and q doubt they would mention any of that.

Can go very wrong quickly. So if not confident I know the exit fix call a plumber.

This book, contrary to all the naysayers (including me) is invaluable. A real must have.

Until today I had no idea that that big white boxy metal thing in the utility room is what’s termed, in technical speak, a “washing machine”.

I’d been wondering what the hell it was for years, until I imported what’s apparently called “a lady” into said room, seated her next to the big white boxy thing, and took her photograph, smiling vapidly at what she told me she called “washing”. This was of course after placing a pot plant on the big white boxy thing to distinguish it from the other white boxy things and the copper coloured pipey things.

This superlative book taught me all that. I shall treasure it forever and take it with me wherever I go.

This book is garbage, don't waste your time even for free.

Does demonstrate that AI is in fact quite sh1t though, some of the pictures are actually wrong, the picture of a 'plumbers snake' is a shower hose! (edited)

Looks good, only 40 years too late for me, download it for the kids.
Edit. Was about to download and read the comments, won't bother now. But, but the idea of the book is good, though. (edited)

To be honest, Googling/YT a specific job or task of ANY sort is far batter than any book. I honestly don't know why this is so popular.

AI related free ebooks don't get as many posts (being new tech), but post a plumbing or car related eBook and everyone comes out of the woodwork, strongly opinionated.

    I wonder why?
