I bought this phone about 3 months ago and never had an update since. It is still on android 13 with Jan24 security. I like the hardware but i suspect the savings are on the software side since Motorola is not great on updates.

This is why I haven't touched Motorola since owning an X Force many moons ago. Updates were extremely rare and slow, before being abandoned altogether. This was after Motorola had actually just built a half decent reputation for updates. It's also the only phone I've ever owned that has been broken beyond repair after being dropped, ironic seeing as it was marketed as being virtually unbreakable.

I checked my headphone jack just now by shining a very bright torch down it and thought I saw dust . I got a needle and poked what was like a really tiny piece of tissue out and hey presto headphones now working

Uncertainty of updates but can you elaborate on your opinion considering this is a 5G phone with ample ram/rom?

    Device Software Updates
Motorola G54 5G One major OS update (Android 13 to 14)
security patch Three years of security patch updates (until 2026)

so should eventually get Android 14 but the slow security patching is worrying... compare with Samsung A15 4G (UK) or A25 5G (International/Grey) which can be had for similar money.

Eventually! What's the point of getting android 14 probably when 15 is out? It's a real pity cause i actually quite liked the hardware but with the slow and infrequent updates i'd daren't put anything security dependent on it, like banking apps, Google wallet, revolut etc...

Anyone else had the headphone jack on the G54 not recognising any headphones when they are plugged in .... Sound just comes through the phones speaker loud instead of personally through any of the multiple wired headphones I've inserted (edited)
