Had so much unreliability with AMD I think I’m going team green next time.

Honestly depends what card you were using, the 5000 series was plagued with driver issues and almost pushed me away from AMD entirely. Upgraded around 2 years ago to the 6900XT and haven't had an issue since.

    All about perspective.

Good deal OP. Here are my reasons:

Good buy if you need a card right now that will suit the purpose of high refresh 1440p ultra gaming AND not worth spending £100 or 20% more for the GRE for only about 10% more performance, as new gen only round the corner.

7800xt is no slouch- once overclocked matches the 7900GRE!

I’ve undervolted my 7800xt to 995mv and overclocked (memory 2562mhz, core max 2950 min 2750 mhz and PL +15%) mine to match the stock GRE on 3D mark Timespy (22000 score) that is game stable.

Overclocking the GRE gains another 10% over base performance but that is variable on the quality of the vram which I’ve heard in some cases doesn’t tolerate even a mild overclock. HUB had a Nitro which is the best model so sure it can overclock 12% to be within 8% of a 7900xt but that can also be overclocked to be within 15% of a XTX and so on and so on.

7800xt will be enough to see me happy at 1440p until PS6 and the new tech that will bring that will make all 7000 cards except XTX redundant in gpu grunt

Very nice. Also with the new gen coming out soon we will see a big decrease in price of the 7800xt models as company's try to clear their shelves to make way for their new 8000 series (hopefully). Have a good day

3 Fan XFX Graphics Card Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB Speedster MERC 319 £466.91 on Ebay

Yes, the Merc XFX version can be found on eBay. But the amount of fans you have is based on the card size and heat spread. Sapphire is known for having some of the best AMD manufactured cards and is way shorter that the XFX and has a built in heat sink for heat spread, it does not need an extra fan for £20. A case with sub par airflow could handle this card just fine for a lower price.

Despite now being out classed by the 4070 super and 7900gre, this is still a great 1440p card. I'm also waiting for them to drop under £400 and I will grab one.

This is definitely tempting. It's the card that I've had my eye on, but it's still a lot of money.

How are Overclockers UK? Would Royal mail be fine for something like this? (I think they usually take extra care with items like this, and deliver them separately - but I could be wrong)

Edit: I'd be upgrading from a 1080 GTX by the way (and actually need the HDMI ports, unless I want to buy adapter/conversion cables) (edited)

Overclockers is quite well known, as with all carrier services there can be some issues occasionally but i have never had any personally. Yes royal mail would be. Have a good day.

    HODL.

Not very exciting, if it was 399 it would be an actual deal. This is like whatever normal price :/. Get to see 7900 GRE around 500 quid these days anyways I rather pick that over this.
    PC59's avatar
Yes but a 7900GRE definitely requires a good quality 750W psu to OC it and make it consistent with most games
