PSA: If you get this be careful not to block your fire exit in case this goes up in flames.

Hired scooters in the Canary Islands last year. Great for zipping between hotel and bars. Such a shame there’s all the regulation crap in the uk spoiling it. (edited)

I think it's the reverse issue; UK not being prepared to regulate their use and instead banning them (or use of personally owned ones at least). It's Spain that have shown good sense and since Jan 2024 regulated them so that they can legally be used.

What happens at 50 years old that makes this unusable

That's just the maximum age anyone has ever reached with one of these... most users don't live that long.

not worth the 6 points on your licence

Most people riding this don't have a licence, lol.

Why is the Hot deals community promoting a product deal that is entirely illegal to use on any public road in the UK.Stating “please read the latest UK government guidance is not good enough. At worst Hot Deals should state this product cannot legally be used on any UK public road.

Just needs a bundle deal with a north face hoodie and a brick, for 50 sheets, and I’m in

Saw someone sensibly commuting on one of these down Oxford Street and can't help feeling sad about what they could have been.

Even if they were legal I don't this the mass public would have the collective common riding sense that you see in the Netherlands etc.

I can't get a mobility scooter as on lower pip rate but one of these would be excellent to help me zip about.

Same here, S4 cancer here and these would be a godsend if legal.

That’s all we need is a bunch of sangria quaffing scooter hooligans, skooting on the wrong side of the road with these left hand drive models.
Wait a minute, they do that already! As you were.

This is why they need to just have the same rules as bicycles applied to, instead of people wondering if they're illegal or not and riding on paths. We maybe have cyclist thugs where I live, but at least they stick to the road.

is this a cut down / lighter version than the mi3? Think that had almost 600W?

Think mine currently has 25kmh topspeed not 20....but also a tad heavier...

Max incline looks light...I live at the top of a hill!

Still one of the handiest things I have bought
    Jam_Smi's avatar
Have you had any issues using it in public?

Never going to be legal in the UK
    Meltigemini's avatar
They're already legal to rent in some city centres. So no reason to think personal e-scooters won't ever become legal.

This is what they call a "last mile" scooter - public transport- then finish on this.
Biggest cost in a e-scooter is the battery and to make cheap scooter = use cheap battery
Xiaomi batteries used to be v.good - LG cells and 2yr g#tee Now they use smaller batteries to keep cost down
5.2 Ah/165wh battery might do 6 mile if you are thin, keep under 10mph, no hills , constant speed and 27*C - also it might not !
My old model Xiaomi has 446wh and don't think will do 20 nursing it , I bought a 675wh scooter which I expect to do 40km /25miles easy - not tried yet, too wet
    Ipx4 - don't use in the wet !! April UK !
I wouldn't touch scooter with battery under 7.8ah /275wh preferably bigger
Batteries don't like being charged 100% or run flat - can't avoid with small battery - lead acid even worse under 1 yr life !
So big battery, keep between 30-80% will last many times longer
