About this deal

EDIT - It looks like Microsoft have made an official announcement stating they will be adding more games to the sale on June 18th & July 16th. All games that are reduced will remain on sale until the store closes on July 29th. Credit to dandareuk for providing this info. The article can be found at the link below which also contains the current list of games on sale as well as links to each.

news.xbox.com/en-…ow/

With the Xbox 360 digital store closing on July 29th, it looks like Xbox have discounted some non backwards compatible Xbox 360 games via the 360 store. I'm not sure if this is it or if they'll add more (hopefully they add more), but this is what's on sale for now.

There doesn't seem to be a set deal page like with modern Xbox games, so it's a bit of a pain to find/access these. You'll have to go to the store page directly via the web or access the game page on a 360.

I've compiled this list from the Trueachievements site which I've also linked below. This is mainly why I'm not sure if there are more games as there's no real way to know without manually looking up each game. I only found out about these discount from this site.

trueachievements.com/new…ale

It's not the best sale and there are still games missing from the sale, assuming they don't add more, but if you're hoping to grab some games before the store closes, I guess this is the cheapest they'll get!

"Self-Defense Training Camp" is "My Self Defence Coach" in the UK market, if you're having trouble finding it on the X360 store.

Also, if you're having trouble finding "War World", search for "faraway planet".

So these are NOT playable on current gen consoles?
    elect117's avatar
    Author
That's right. These are only playable on a 360. The 360 games that can be played on current consoles will remain available. They're only shutting down the 360 store meaning non backwards compatible games will no longer be purchasable digitally after July 29th.

After the stores' closure, can still redownload purchased content, right?
    elect117's avatar

Yeah. There's a support page on the site in regards to the 360 store closing that answers a bunch of questions. Here's the one regarding redownloading games.

Just updated the deal with this information and have credited you for the info. Thanks for mentioning it! That's so amazing to hear. I was hoping they would add more so it's great to see an official announcement regarding this. I'm super excited to grab a ton of old games.

For all it’s worth, there’s even today nothing really wrong with the 360, the graphics hold up, are crisp and look amazing on today’s TVs. Granted most of us did it and bought the T-shirt back in the day but anyone who somehow missed out on gaming then, if they can get a cheap console (the latter ones were pretty reliable), then there’s enough back catalogue for a couple of years of amazing gaming with discs costing pennies.

The only thing putting me off playing on x360 so much is the painfully long loading times. I've been spoiled by Quick Resume on xbox series X.

Crackdown 1 and 2 are free on there too (edited)

Those and Too Human for some reason have been free for years. Not sure why. They're all backwards compatible though which means they won't be affected by the store closure which is good.

Hopefully a start of a proper fire sale. A few 360 titles I wouldn't mind digital copies of before closure. Even dug the 360 out last month to download and purchase some more!

I hooked mine up a while ago to play a bunch of older games that have been delisted. At least we can still grab the physical copies.

I am hoping that this is just the start and they'll add more. Doesn't really make sense just to add a few. Might as well put everything on sale. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Makes zero sense why more companies don’t pursue this during store closures when it’ll be impossible to sell them afterwards so may as well make what they can for a few quid each.

Easy recommendation: Buy the digital only games as they aren’t backwards compatible. At least the ones that are backwards compatible are safe and will still be purchasable even after the 360 store closure through other means like the current Xbox storefront web page or directly through the Xbox One/Series.

Even though it’s not a popular choice and normally I don’t care for this kinda game, I personally bought Just Dance 2019 solely for the novelty of it being the final Xbox 360 game ever released and physical copies go for more expensive prices, so £6.99 seems ok instead of £34.99 or higher second hand.

And there are a couple more in this sale where it is cheaper than physical second hand like destroy all humans.

Also I found out that it’s not possible to add your debit/credit card directly on the Xbox 360 which isn’t surprising given the age of the store.
However, it can still be added via the 360 Marketplace web browser and once added there, you can directly buy it from the Xbox 360 again as the new payment details are saved which was a relief. (edited)

All these games will rocket in price (for physical) once the store closes..

Get ready for the FOMO-fueled Xbox 360 game price rollercoaster! As gamers panic-buy and prices skyrocket, just remember: what goes up must come down & once fools realise the money they’ve wasted and eBay sellers/ CEX have gained, it will even out and prices will go back down.

Shame some games got delisted in the past few years like Jet Set Radio and Daytona.
    Alex_Kupse's avatar
    Yeah

likely never happening and I know it’s a pipe dream, but having some of that relisted before the store closure would be amazing news to wake up to
  14. odiedodie's avatar
I just want the Borderlands Pre Sequel Season Pass.

    I can’t pay full price!
    Doyl's avatar
A friend told me season passes are broken on 360 and you have to buy DLC seperately now, not sure if it's still true.
  15. Mr.Nutts's avatar
FYI, a number of these games, though not backwards compatible, do have Xbox One versions. Far Cry, Tomb Raider, to name a couple.

Sadly, the games I wanted aren’t on offer
    Alex_Kupse's avatar
That is true and it would make logical sense to buy and play the newer updated versions.

Though for preservation/availability, every version counts. So 360 versions of Child of Light, Legend of Kay and Unwritten Tales will be completely gone after the closure when those are digital only.

Stuff that had physical releases aren’t as bad when games like Watch Dogs on 360 got a physical release and still aren’t that pricey second hand. Though the odd few are still cheaper digitally when physicals are going to go up in price over time.

Is the rumour going to be true about XBox announcing a ton of new 360 backwards compatible games at Xbox Games Showcase in June!?!
    elect117's avatar

That's literally my most anticipated thing for the show. If we get all the Activision games working on the Series consoles that's gonna be insane. Blur, 007, Transformers, Spiderman, Wolverine, Wolfenstein, Singularity and more! There are sooo many games they could bring back. It would be amazing.
  17. snotters's avatar
What an underwhelming list. Think how many hundreds (thousands?) of games are currently on that store. When they're gone they're gone forever, so I don't get it, I don't get why they'd not want to increase the scope of this sale. But it's Microsoft we're talking about - a company run by latte-drinking XY elites.
    elect117's avatar

That's why I'm hoping they add more. There's still 2 months until the store closes and it's weird that they would just discount around 60 games. They haven't even mentioned these discounts which is even weirder. I only found out about them from Trueachievements. You'd think they'd wanna let everyone know they're discouting 360 games before they're gone forever. It's basically free money. Microsoft are pretty useless nowadays though.

Same... I regret selling my physical copy years ago after finishing it several times in both single player and Co op. I figured I wouldn't want to go back and play again now I knew the puzzles so well...

Well past Flux, you were wrong, and present Flux doesn't forgive you!

I think I even got my copy for something like £15 in one of those crazy in store Asda sales too 🤦🏻‍♂️

Shouldn’t that be “forward compatible” since we are talking about old games being compatible with new hardware rather than new games being compatible with old hardware?
    Piranha_Plant's avatar
"Backward compatible" refers to old software running on new hardware, while "forward compatible" would mean new software running on old hardware. So, for old games working on new consoles, "backward compatible" is indeed the right term.

Argh how annoying, my 360 keeps getting an error message when I try to add a payment method since they rolled out combined Microsoft accounts

Can you add it on the Xbox website?

'Alien Rage' and 'Bloody Good Time' look like fun. I already had 'Rotastic' and 'Final Exam', but they didn't show as previously purchased. I've heard it's possible to make duplicate purchases now that the x360 store is on it's last legs!
