Anyone have this comment on coil whine?

I have a 1660 so I know this would be a vast improvement but it’s either this or a 4070.

the 16gb 4060 seems okay but looks slower and can’t use that memory effectively.

so is it worth it?

I've got 3 of these

No noticeable coil whine, then again my ears don't pick up the higher frequency that well

It's a 200W card like a 4070 so I doubt it'll suffer as much as the high power draw cards

4070 is usually £100-£150 more, so 6800 is clear winner in terms of raster to £ ratio, 4070 isn't a bad shout at £400-£450 as it's a bit faster and has all the Nvidia goodies

Wouldn't bother with a 16GB 4060TI unless it's £350, even then it's a good bit slower than this (edited)

Got mine today. No coil whine. I made my own fan curve and maxed out the power limits. I got a few extra FPS and the card still runs well. It sits nice and cool in the low 60s with fans running around 1200rpm. It is not a large card by todays standards, just a little longer than average.

This seems to keep up with 4060 so surely price wise this is better? Not sure paying nearly £200 more for a 4070 is worth it?

This has x2 Vram and is about 40% faster than the 4060, it's way closer to the 4070 for gaming. The only reason to consider the 4060 over this is for cuda, definitely not worth £200 more for the 4070. However, the 4070 Ti deal I posted that expired, if that comes back for around £200 more, could be worth it (edited)

I had a similar thought and after comparing 4060, 4060 Ti and 4070 prices, I took the plunge and replaced my 2060. I was surprised who silent the card is at 1080p, limited to 60fps - it is hardly working at all.

Be warned that it is a large card, so you'll need a case that will fit it. It is also wide, so I had to get a PCI-Express x1 extension cable to move my wireless network card. (edited)

A great card, it seems fast, quiet, efficient as running it off a 550w brick. However please remember it is a very long card, I can't help but think there is going to be some very disappointed people who didn't check first.

Bargain, nearly bought this at £359 a few weeks back, waited then picked it up for around £340, gutted to see it even cheaper but not the end of the world

I don't see this getting any cheaper for a brand new card

Very happy with the performance on my 3440x1440 ultrawide screen paired with a 5600X. I actually have a 5700X3D CPU upgrade arriving at some point (was very cheap on aliexpress ~£150) but its been in transit for about a month ... I don't think its got lost as there's been shipping updates every so often, just seems to be going on a scenic route... (edited)

I've got Dell Alienware laptop with 3070ti. Would I notice any difference if I build a PC with that card? The only issue with 3070ti laptop is 8gb of vram. (edited)

May be, it hits 90fps in forbidden west at 1080p.

Should be solid for a while at 1080p and you’ll get very nice fps on AAA games. Imo get this then save £150ish for a 1440p monitor

I just bought this to upgrade from my GTX 1060 card

I have not had much time for gaming as I got older and I guess my old card was a big limitation too.
Hopefully, I get a card with no coil whine and many happy hours of gaming lie ahead!

Blazing. Great value, good card. 34cm big boy. If I didn't pick up a bgrade used 6800xt for similar money I would be all over this for the warranty.

XFX do excellent heatsink and fans, and their cards feel like a mini tank. I used to own a XFX 6800 XT and it was a beast however from time to time it would black screen on me (crash my PC essentially with audio still playing but inoperable otherwise). When I tried to get ahold of XFX support, the whole process was a HUGE mess. The ticket tracking system looked like something from the 90s and their responses were borderline confusing and unhelpful. Each response from their team took a day or two. Just check how many years the retailer will provide warranty before XFX then take over the remainder of the warranty. Based on my experience, I would stay away from this brand.

Silly question time , I've just got mine and started taking the protective film off the back plastic peice. It was difficult, and half way through, I thought is this meant to come off .. there's more on the front but I'm thinking I should leave it. Thanks (edited)

Damn, reading about coil whine scares me a bit, because I will be building my PC in 2-3 months time, so won't be able to return if it's a bad one. From what they say, if you use a high quality PSU, the coil whine is relatively quiet, I wonder if that is always the case.
