For some background info 're generic pencils'.
I have an M1 iPad Pro and about 2 years ago I did a bit of research (on here and Reddit etc) for a 'cheap' alternative. Long story short, I ended up buying a GOOJODOQ GD13 'stylus' from AliExpress (about £20). Strange name, but for some reason this brand was 'better' than the rest.

The GOOJODOQ charges magnetically on the side of my iPad Pro (and the battery widget works with it as well). I'm not an artist, but for all things 'stylus' this works well.

So, if you're on the fence about getting an Apple Pencil, I would recommend you get a generic one first. They're cheap and work well. And then if you do need all of the features that an Apple Pencil offers, you'll know that you'll get the use out of it. Otherwise, you could end up spending a lot of money for something that sits in a drawer.

This has wired charging, a real pain.

Well despite the voucher supposedly expiring tomorrow, it’s already disappeared from the product page. This deal can be expired now

Seemingly nothing but Vine reviews, that’s always a bad sign

Are the Vine reviews the new way of paid reviews on Amazon?

Anyone used one of these before?

Oh wow, my new iPad 10th gen has just arrived and was looking to get a pencil. This seems insane value

Great stuff. Best to buy this now before it goes out of stock

Is there a good app to write notes with apple pen on iPad and convert to text (not take a photo of handwriting and convert to text)?

I think the default Notes app does that doesn’t it? I’ll try tomorrow when mine arrives

What are the main differences between this and a Apple pencil? Not talking about the pro version that got announced last week as not bothered by the whole squeeze feature

Basically, pressure sensitivity usually - press harder for thicker brush strokes, you can’t charge it by docking it to the iPad, and probably doesn’t support tapping to change tools.

Oh, and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Is this equivalent to the Apple Pencil 2?

Can anyone confirm if these have genuine CE marks etc? We've looked at some of the other cheap ones and they haven't been safety marked.

Lost my original on a trip recently, still think Apple is overpriced. Gave this a go for a fraction of the cost. No regrets. Writes the same and honestly after using it for a few days, don’t miss the Apple version anymore.

Mine arrived today, build is pretty good considering price feels nice to hold. My biggest issue is it doesn’t seem to like to attach nicely to my iPad (10th gen) magnetically. I have to put it higher up, so it sticks out a bit. Bit annoying but not the end of the world. Assuming its magnets are aligned for the pro models or something.
