MLB (Melbourne Orlando Airport) is a lovely smallish airport. None of the chaos of many larger US airports. Just be sure to note this is not MCO (Orlando International Airport).

I like MLB as an airport because it’s not “Orlando”
Don’t like the hour+ drive to get you back to Orlando though.

Best part of £100 each if you want a bag with your stuff in, 2 weeks on 10kg hand luggage ain’t much?

I paid the same price to fly from the UK to Perpignan in France. True, 2 weeks later, during the school holidays...Something needs to be done, so people can take their kids abroad during holidays. Hot!

What is best option from this smaller MLB airport to downtown Orlando ?

No solution cheap solution I’m afraid as I was looking at going to visit family near Melbourne flying in from Orlando and there is no bus service nor train so only option is getting someone to pick you up or a cab service

    Is £600 now the norm?

They all went crazy after covid as a lot of companies were forced to sell their fleet, car prices rocketed and they had to buy them all back at double. Pretty much like that everywhere now. 8 years is a long time and the exchange rate has changed a lot since then too!
