Anyone know how this compares to Wet and Forget?

Just use regular bleach at a ratio of about 1:3 with water. I used to use patio magic but no more...

A general warning for the many folk I've seen on here that are lazy, stupid or both. Threads like these always end up with folk recommending chemicals that are dangerous for you, because your stupidity and laziness means you won't read the label or safety instructions, you won't wear goggles or appropriate clothing, you won't dilute appropriately, wear appropriate face masks, put signs/barriers up to warn children or the public to keep away, won't check environmental consequences, etc, and could end up seriously harming yourself or others because of advice from "informed" persons from the Internet.

52676316-LuIy0.jpgI use these ( there are many makes), they are 16% or so sulphuric acide which cleans patios and bricks beautifully and much cheaper. Can get it from builders merchants or eBay. Needs to wear plastic gloves and protect your clothing. Can be poured ( carefully) over a large area and use a broom to spread it then wash off or can be , using a paint brush, on a small areas

Very good for black spots on garden walls. No amount of power washing will remove it.
Patio magic appears to make no difference, but a few months later it's all gone for 3 years plus. Magic.....errr

I applied this to half our block paved patio in June 2022 with the intention of capturing a 'before and after' type shot for a review. Left it two weeks...no discernible difference, left it a month, still nothing to see. A bunch of winter snow came and went in January/February 2023 and one day that February I suddenly noticed that half the patio was clean and colourful again while the untreated part was black and grubby. Eight frickin' months later! I sometimes wonder if it was the effect of either heavy rainfall or the snow melting that rubbed the dead algae etc away...

Sodium Hypochlorite is the way to go. About £16 on Amazon. Make sure you get the 15% stuff and be careful when you use it.

I use Deosan Red Label. This stuff works wonders. Just spray neat or can do 2:1 dilute, and just leave on drive or pateo for 5 mins. Brings it up brilliant and kills any algae and weeds as well. Wash it away with a hose, happy days.

No power spraying? Does your patio come back to its original brightness just by doing this?

What would this be like on decking, would it take the paint off?
    Roger_Irrelevant's avatar
No it's a biocide(?) so just turns algae grey then think it drops off.

How does this compare to Wet and Forget? Have used W&F for many years but it’s very pricey. Everything was very, very green this year but W&F worked as well as ever. If this is an efficient and safe alternative, it would be good to know.

Go to your local farm supplier, buy Sodium Hyperchloride (25ltrs for about 25 quid) this will mix up to about 50 or 60 litres. It’s absolutely fantastic stuff, brings paving up brilliantly and even trips the green crap off fences and other wood.

Will also bleach out any color from the stone over time!
