There's a reason this film consistently comes in top 100 of the best films ever made.
There needs to be context as to when it was made. Just after ww2 when the world was still in chaos.
James Stewart is so good in it as is Donna Reid.
It cannot be judged alongside modern films as there's a different speed to the editing and method actors hadn't developed yet.
Lillian Randolph is super as Annie and a bit of trivia she is also the voice of Toms owner in Tom and Jerry.

I understand the importance and impact of the movie during those post WW2 times. I do however question why they release black and white movies on 4K HD never mind Blu-ray. There is very little to be gained from these earlier movies and don't know who buys them but somebody does. Personally I have never seen the film and don't ever intend to. Hi definition showing the limitation of early black and white filming.

The older releases actually benefit more from 4k and see bigger improvements over previous releases than the more modern films. Films like The Wizard of Oz look fab in 4k.

Might be an unpopular position but this film is utterly unwatchable
