Imagine a little slice of the British seaside set on Spain’s south coast and you have Gibraltar.
The Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge, is the epicentre of this, surrounded by pubs, fish ’n’ chips and afternoon tea. It’s the perfect British summer, complete with faded 1960s vibes, but minus the grey skies and rain. If you’re after a little more Mediterranean flavour though, step away from the rock and head outwards. Set between Europe and Africa, the island itself is very un-British, surrounded by warm turquoise waters and fine sand. See if you can spot any of the resident Barbary macaques – it won’t be hard, they’re extremely camera ready.

Example Dates:

  • 16th - 23rd Nov
  • 1st - 8th Dec
  • 3rd - 10th Dec

Or just leave the airport and go to Andalucia. You’re an hour or so away from Tarifa, Zahara, barbate, Cádiz, etc. beautiful region with amazing food

How hard post brexit isitto cross the boder into Spain? I’d like to visit Gibraltar agin but the hotels are usually cheaper in Spain?

Just checked and the flights are hand luggage only. BA are generous with hand baggage allowance but not as good as 23kg checked baggage. (edited)

To be fair, checked baggage isn't that much extra (think £14 each way) - their normal hand luggage allowance should easily suffice for a few days, potentially even a week.

    Cabin baggage - what's included:
    • 1 Cabin bag. Maximum size: 56x45x25cm with 23kg weight limit
    • 1 smaller personal item handbag or laptop bag up to 40 x 30 x 15cm including handles, pockets and wheels.

Gibraltar hotels can be expensive generally but might be worth heading to La Linea price-wise

You could easily cover the cost of that flight with duty free booze and fags if you ignored your allowance

It’s a shame that the duration is all one week. It would be ideal if 2/3 nights.
