I replaced UK plug for an EU on a 5 gang extension lead and original high speed chargers can be used, this adaptor will be frustratingly slow to use.

That's exactly what I was intending to do , partly for the reason you mentioned, and partly to take weight off the socket - from previous experiences a plug into a standard travel starts to drift out of the socket and ends up disconnecting! Being able to sit the extension cable on a chair etc should prevent that. However struggling to find a suitable EU "schuko" plug - where did you get yours?

I would be very wary of this Chinese plug. See image after charging my phone on the USB-C last week.

I used this in Athens last week. Perfectly acceptable performance and quality. Recommended.

Wouldn’t the weight of this with items plugged in cause it to just flop out of the socket?

Might hang a little loose, but still better then if you have to add an adapter to your plug
