Remember guitars are not digital so yes cables can have an effect. Yes a cheap cable might sound OK but a high quality cable may be even better and certainly will last longer if using it a lot.

Sure, plug the lead in for a minimum of 30 mins per day. Whilst the lead is plugged in, practice all the things you want to get better at.
