I expect opinion is split widely but I wonder if anyone would be good enough to recommend a mirrorless small camera body that won’t break the bank (<£1k). I am looking to lift my photography from the usual iPhone shots. I have a reasonable understanding of photography (depth of field, lens angles etc). It would need to be fairly unobtrusive for street photos, occasional landscapes maybe even the odd portrait. Thanks in advance. (edited)

I recommend an Olympus OM-D or the Panasonics are great to I think. I have the OM-D 10MKIII personally and love the image quality and small size especially with the 14‑42mm F3.5‑5.6 EZ Pancake lens. Though I use a Panasonic lumix 15mm mostly.

I came from a NIkon DSLR and don't miss the size or weight lol.

It would be a good idea to watch some you tube reviews. (edited)

That's a fantastic price for this lens. It's sharp, tiny and weighs next to nothing.

for less than £130, a no brainer. Bung it in your pocket and forget you are even carrying it - mine has nearly been through the wash a couple of times for that very reason.

Worth stating that as a 30mm lens (60mm full frame equivalent) you need to be almost uncomfortably close to your subject for full macro (1:1), but for general close-ups it's perfect - and a lot smaller and lighter (not to mention cheaper) than the Olympus 60mm Macro.

If you are a micro four thirds shooter and fancy dipping a toe into the world of macro, I'd say get one of these. It also makes a good standard lens, though some might find the 60mm equivalent field a view a little tight. (edited)

I have both and I’d say that the 30mm is a bit easier to use and the equivalent 60mm is close to the nifty 50 for a portrait lens. (edited)

Is the site is legit? There's no rating on trustpilot.

Yes the site is legitimate. The official OM Digital Solutions site directs you to the same URL when buying their products

no idea what I'd need a macro lens for and I'm sure I could just buy extension tubes but god that price is tempting

I've been doing a lot of event photography where my 12-35mm just isn't long enough so that 75mm is calling out to me too... but it's around the price of a used 35-100mm 2.8 which is more versatile :/ :/ :/

    The 75mm is pin sharp.

It's possible to do very close-up work with extension tubes that maintain AF capability or filter-thread close-up lenses, some of which are very high quality. I use those with the 45/1.8 for good results. However, a native macro lens allows you full IS capabilities from the IBIS system, or it may have OIS itself. Those other methods really screw up the IS so must be used with IS turned off, because the focal length reported to the camera is nothing like the real one. Good IS can be extremely important in macro, esp. when there is no wind and little subject movement and you could not stick a support into the space. I don't have this lens but am assuming that it does collaborate correctly with the camera wrt IS. They'd be crazy not to have this done right.

OMD M5ii with the lumix 12-60 lens. You can get them used together for about £500. Together they are water sealed so great for taking around and 12-60 is brilliant lens for the money. If you can stretch the finances, you could get the M5iii which has better video.

Out of interest, are you talking about private sales, ebay or shops selling used gear? (edited)

If you add the E-P7 kit to the basket and then add the code, it will sell them together at £619.

    45mm F1.8 is a great lens.

That 45mm is my favourite M43 lens. Razor sharp.

I've bought it. See how it is and if it's not to my liking I can sell it for a bit more.

Looking like I'll love it though.

Pair this 30mm macro lens with the E-M5ii or E-M1ii (or newer versions of these cameras) for in body focus stacking.
Or alternatively do it in post processing after taking photos using focus bracketing.
