About this deal

This Prospex piece is a recreation of the ‘Panda’ Chronograph from 1972. The original evolved from the first Speedtimer (6139) in 1969 and is revived again to achieve a modern sports aesthetic.

The latest Panda inherits many design features from its original inspiration: the recessed subdials with orange highlights on the second and sub dial hands and ‘flow-shaped’ case with comfortable multi-row bracelet echo the earlier model. It has a dual-curved sapphire crystal glass and comes with an additional black steer leather strap option.

From the Speedtimer collection, this piece has chronograph functionality, allowing for the measurement of elapsed time. The in-house 8R48 mechanical calibre allows for a slim and compact case design. This movement beats at 28,800vph, and has a power reserve of up to 45 hours. This piece is limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.

What a piece of cr*p. Why do people buy these awful things for £1,800. Wouldn’t even pay £500. Utter garbage from Seiko. Don’t get me wrong, I love chronographs. I have two.

From what I have been told by wealthy watch collectors, Seiko make some incredible watches and the R&D and movements are excellent.

You think otherwise? I don't know enough to comment.

    A quick Google:

WHY SEIKO CALIBER 8R48 IS THE MOST ADVANCED CHRONOGRAPH MOVEMENT

There is no denying that Seiko is among the top contenders in the world of horology and the timepiece industry because of its endless journey toward augmenting and refining its watches, their feature, and most especially, their movements.

Leaning on the words “revolutionary” and “most advanced”, Seiko has proven again that they are always further steps ahead of the rest.

No doubt a good looking watch but I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a Prospex. You're better off with a barely used grand Seiko for that price.

Honestly you will not pick up a barely used GS chrono for anywhere near this price BUT you may find something like a speedy reduced. When it comes to black and white chrono's that mere mortals can actually afford, the Omega Speedmaster is it the definitive watch for the segment. (edited)

Is anyone seriously paying nearly 2 grand for a non-Grand Seiko, Seiko?
