(Too many word games?) Splitting the misc forum discussion...
POSTED BY: jah128 4 months, 1 week ago(Edited 9/7) This thread started out as a discussion over the number of word games but its really a thread now about why (myself and some others think) we should split the misc forum in some manner.
The first problem is that the number of word-games, quizzes, jokes, congratulations posts and other random stuff has grown rapidly recently, and the nature of these threads is such that they are often bumped to the top of the page regularly as they attract a number of responses. I have no problem with them at all, but misc also contains threads on useful tips, help requests, questions about how the site works and occasionally some really good (serious) discussion threads.
The other problem is that the misc forum allows threads to contain nonsense, be driven wildly off-topic, contain in-jokes and spam posts etc. Again, this is fine, but its a real shame when these ruin what could otherwise be a really useful thread, and it would be nice to have a forum where people can ask a question or even a debate without loads of spam and off-topic replies.
This thread contains some interesting ideas on how such a split could be achieved, it would be good if more users gave there feedback on whether they think a split would be a good idea, potential names for the split-forum or any other possible solutions.

I don't mind them at all (but I would say that ha ha), I stick to the same 2, my scrabble one and pinkkitty's name one. I can see your point but I don't think its so bad - there are worse things on here.

I don't mind the games at all (forgot about the name game one) - I've participated in most of them, but surely just 1 scrabble game is enough (that would leave the 4 - scrabble, word-association, name and count to a million)... Like you say though, its a small point and I'm sure they will die a natural death soon enough anyway...
