Considering the other cards available out there, the 8600 is a bit of a dud, was never much of a performer, and didn't build upon much on its predecessor (7600).

Shame really.

Cannot agree with that at all muddyfox470, the 8600GT is THE budget card of choice around the £50 mark - unless you know better?? Powerful enough to play recent games without the need in investing in a top notch PSU to run it and pretty quiet to boot.

I bought mine ages ago for £125 and had to upgrade a few months back to an 8800, it just isn't up to it.

Worth £50 though. Will play UT3 (and its various incarnations like Gears of War) on max settings and Crysis on medium at a push.

I currently have a ati radeon x600 pro 256mb card in mine (i know it is ancient now). The pc is a hp m7061.uk. would it be worthwhile replacing the graphics card for this one ?
Any major difference ?

Dual DVI and rather fabulous. I can't remember what actual brand it is but whatever brand it's the 'special' version with a Zalman (style?) cooler.

I have two of these in seperate PC's. Very good gaming performance and pretty good at 2D work. Quiet too.

Its a much better card than your current one, it'd give you a nice performance boost indeed. Go for the Novatech one though, better value for money.
