VOUCHERS: £15 - £55 at Jessops, Various at Jessops

After much consideration over which DSLR I should get I went for the Sony A300 at Jessops. Order online and you can add a Tamron 55-200mm lens for £49 (reduced from £149).

Go via Quidco for 3% cashback and a £20 off voucher. I ordered online and collected instore at the reduced with voucher price. £429 all in.

Bargain methinks

IMHO this is a very cold deal, this isn't the Alpha A350 which is a much better camera. The Alpha 300 is basically the same as the A200 which is £275 dixons, play.com. I nearly bought the A200 from Jessops for £325 two weeks ago with the 18-70mm lens and 55-300mm.

Heres a link to a site which compares the A200 and A300. The A200 only lacks Live view but the A300 weighs more and has a tilting screen.

I beg to differ...

The main difference between the A300 & the A350 is the megapixel count..

As highlighted in this artical by dpreview.com

And supported by the following two reviews by digitalcamera-hq...
A350
A300

I cannot comment on the Tamron lens, but still feel it's a hot deal, unfortunately not the one I'm waiting for

The A300 and the A350 are the identical cameras. It's just the A350 has 14 megapixels and the A300 has 10.2

I am sorry I should have been more clear, what I'm trying to say is in my opinion there is no point going for the A300 hence why Sony have stopped selling it as there isn't a massive improvement from the A200 paying extra £100 pounds for useless features. If live view was a significant feature someone was looking for they wouldn't choose the A200 but rather buy an A350 because there is a significant increase in quality & features between the A200 and the A350.

Like I said Jessops had the A200 with the extra Tamron 55-300mm lens for £325 delivered/collect instore £104 cheaper than this deal. Question is if an extra £104 for live view and a tilting screen worth it?

From Littlewoods Direct works out at £460 sih with QUidco and vouchers and Samsung £100 back. WIth lens.

IMHO it knocks the Sony into a cocked hat.

More features than 10 swiss army knives

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but this is rubbish. Some reviews actually say the A300 is better than the A350. Noise levels are worse on the A350, and many reviewers question the extra money between the A300 and A350. They say trying to squeeze more pixels into the A350 was a bad move by Sony.

Also, the A300 is merely exclusive to Jessops, it is not being withdrawn by Sony. This camera has now dropped further in price. £349 with one lens in store I think. Just checked. It is £349.99 online as well. £100 cheaper than the A350. Only £50 more than the A200.

I have one, and I love it. Fantastic pictures. The live view is very useful as well. Great for awkward shots. Out of the A200, A300 and A350, there is only one that I would choose, and that I think some if not many reviewers would choose too, and that is the A300. Best value for money out of the lot of them.
