Team HUKD.........We are computing for cures......JOIN US..

Greetings.

For those HUKD folk who would like to make use of their spare cpu cycles I have created a little POEM@home team.

Come join us and enter the fun, competitive and rewarding world of Distributed Computing.

I will post up relevant links and if anyone has any questions about what we do here please fire away and I will answer as best I can as soon as possible.

I hope some of you will come and support this effort.

At the moment I am the only team member but I am sure one or two of my friends will be along shortly to help get the team started.

Then I am hoping enough of you will join the effort and take it forward.

Lets see how high up the rankings Team HUKD can get and help Biological/Medical science in the process.

*GETTING STARTED*

To get started one needs to go to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/

Download and install Boinc (a project manager).

Then:

Click the tools tab.
Click "attach to project" and enter http://boinc.fzk.de/poem/

As a new user type in your username and password.

It will then attach to the Poem server and download your initial work.

There are many settings which can be adjusted, but that can be gone into later.

*Please note that running this project fully utilises your computer processor so it will add something to your electricity bill--------one or two computers won't make much differrence to your bill but lots of machines and the bill could increase a fair bit*

*ONLY DO AS MUCH AS YOU CAN COMFORTABLY AFFORD.*
