Comet are offering the same set at £529.95 delivered with the code 40SUMMER

Guess the best thing to do is get JL to pricematch that and get their 5 year guarantee thrown in

I want the 42in version but it's at £899 which is around £250 more then Richer Sound.

Very good price for the 37in version.

I am not sure that JL will price match the Comet offer as those codes are available online only and not instore - pretty sure they state that the item must have a ticketed price for them to match it ... no harm in trying though.

Edit: Voted Hot btw as this is a great TV far better picture quality than even the top of the range LCD's for SD viewing.

Did get mine to match a Comet online price as one can order online at Comet and then collect in store. Bit hit and miss as all JLs seem to interpret it their own way.

Good shout. I suppose it all depends on how much you value the 5 year warranty. I nearly bought this TV from John Lewis last night, but now I need to make a decision. There's also 3.5% Quidco at Comet so it brings it effectively brings it down to £512, amazing price.

About 1/3rd of true HD resolution. I wouldn't want it at £200.

I'll ask you the same question as I ask everyone else who says you need full HD, have you seen a 720P and 1080P set side by side? Until you get within 6 feet of them, you won't see any difference at all, and who watches TV from less than 6 feet away??

Also, this is a 37" TV, why would 1080P be a necessity on a set that size?

Voted hot, good price for a very good TV, from a very good plasma manufacturer.

Broona, have you seen 720p compared to 1080p side by side?

No where ever allows you to see this (not the shops I've been to anyway), I've always wondered. I read online asked people "in the know", but everyone has the own opinion. I asked a representitive, who I was assured is an expert on this, that you won't see a difference as it will only become apparent at 60" and up.

I have been after a 40" for a while, but at this size thought I should get full 1080p. Since then I have seen the price of 50" plasmas fall within this range.

I am unable to make my mind up. 1080p LCD at 40"-46" or a 50" plasma. I have Virgin cable and am not sure if this would be a digial signal (eliminating one of plasmas strengths), or if it is simply the resolution that UK tv is broadcast at that is the problem.

I intend to game on my knew tv, and now I read that both plasmas are just as good/better than lcd for this.

Sorry about the long post, I'm pretty sure manufacturers have developed all of this supposed new technology and all of it's terminology to bewilder consumers.

Thanks very much for any help received. I'm sure many other people also share my views.
