HELP ---- How do I leave rep?

sorry if this is a really dumb question but i'm fairly new to the site, Ive had some fantastic deals because of you guys and I always see people say 'Heat and Rep added' but ive no idea how to do this

You sign it with your username so as it lets the person know who repped them - otherwise it's annonymous.

I'm assuming you know the hot/cold vote thingy already right?
