Banning posts asking for Orange 241 codes - Thoughts?

POSTED BY: Forsaken 5 months, 3 weeks ago

Ive noticed quite a few posts asking for orange codes over the past few weeks. It seems to me that people are starting to abuse the generosity of some members which in turn may result in genuine Orange SIM holders from losing out on a decent promotion. Thoughts?

To the mods - from a legal perspective, the T&Cs clearly set out that the codes are for genuine Orange customers only and are non transferable.

terms & conditions:
The promotion applies to all public paid advertised screenings, excluding premieres and other private screenings, on Wednesdays.
Text tickets are redeemable only on Wednesdays during the offer period during advertised opening hours of the participating cinemas.
The offer is not available when booking in advance by whatever means.
Text tickets must be presented at the cinema box office when buying the cinema ticket. The lowest price cinema ticket will be issued free.
The text ticket will be validated by the box office staff.
Once validated, the text ticket can't be used again.
There is a maximum of one text ticket per Orange customer per transaction per week. You can only use a text ticket once.
You can't use this promotion in conjunction with any other offer.
We cannot offer a cash alternative.
We will only accept original text tickets, and not copies.
The cinemas' standard terms and conditions of purchase, sale and entry apply.
The free cinema ticket issued is complimentary, with zero cash value.
The offer is valid until the expiry date stated on the text ticket.
There is only one free admission per customer per paid cinema ticket.
Seat availability is on a first come, first served basis. Admission is not guaranteed.
Text ticket holders and their guests have no priority over other customers.
Admissions are subject to film classifications.
Text tickets are non-transferable.
The offer applies to standard seats only.
The free cinema ticket will be issued to the same film and session as the paid cinema ticket.
Honouring of text tickets is subject to film and seat availability.
Text tickets are subject to availability. Text tickets are issued on a priority basis to either active Orange mobile customers who spend over £5 per month with Orange or Orange broadband and dial up customers who have an average spend of over £5 per month with Orange and have their own mobile phone account which is able to send and receive texts. Orange may revise the terms of this promotion from time to time.
To call or text 241 or 80241 is free. To receive a text ticket you'll be charged a rate of 35p per text.

you could say the same for all the voucher codes that people list on here as they may end up not getting them
that's the whole point of this site to share deals

Maybe just keep it in one ongoing post but apart from that there is no reason why people shouldn't share

people dont HAVE to give another person a code if they dont want to. Its about freedom of choice. As 'cheerleader' said. The whole point of this site is to share deals etc.

Fair point cheerleader but most if not all would be transferable.

I guess one could turn around and say why did HotUK Deals end up prohibiting people asking for other posters' 2.50 vouchers on the forum - if its all about sharing, then whats the issue? (rhetoric)

I dont have a problem with sharing provided its done legally.

People just need to get an Orange SIM and load £5 on it - voila. No need for useless posts begging for codes every Tuesday / Wednesday

Here you go Holly http://www.orange.co.uk/film/orange_wednesdays.htm. If you click on the link below Mobile customers it should tell you how the promotion works

i think they stopped people asking for the £2.5 amazon vouchers as there were too many threads. they didn't stop people from offering the voucher codes to other members though & tbh i don't think a lot of the voucher codes are supposed to be transferrable

ah thanks - thats exactly what I wanted you to highlight. Item 3 in the fine print says just that - non transferable just like the item in the Orange T&Cs
