What are you trying to say? How dare you call me a rat, oops, the rage between biker and car driver continues.... Seriously, well not that seriously, are you saying you pay road tax for your mountain bike?

no offence intended, I own a car as well, and choose to cycle into work.

I thought this was a bargain hunting website, surely you know it's cheaper to cycle than to drive especially with the price of petrol nowadays

No offence taken, it is all in good spirit. It is a bargain to stay uninjured/alive; cycling through central London is not to be recommended. I have seen a cyclist try and pass a truck on the left at a roundabout, I was waiting in traffic to enter the roundabout at the other side. The result was too awful to mention.
You have a car and pay road tax, and a bike. Your car tax does not include a bike. We have two cars, and don't pay one lot of tax.

Yes, but they don't ignore the highway code, they often show they are capable before being let loose on the streets. (Pizza delivery lot excluded, but employers pay the tax, costs, etc.)
My point is that defensive cycling is much better than expecting others to look out for them - I would have thought personal responsibilty for safety is far better than relying on drivers to look after cyclists safety. This is best done if cyclists learn to obey the highway code, and, for example, never move to the left of any cars, always on the right. This is the easiest safety rule that would avoid a lot of injuries.
Finally, what have I started!! Honestly, I have nothing against cyclists, but the risks of cycling through heavy traffic surely must outweigh the benefits. I only think they should think twice about the risks/benefits.
Finally, finally, very sincerely sorry if I have offended anyone, I did not mean to in any way.

Why should drivers look out for cyclists, they should be looking out for us when they go through red lights etc, OH and they should have a licence, insurance and pay road tax.

When i see them stickers in cars i think of the tv adds what are aimed at motobikes not push bikes?

iv'e been riding motorbikes for 20 years on and off and the amount of cars that pull out on you when you have right of way is shocking and the 1st thing they say to you is sorry i did not see you (i found the answer was to get a loud exhaust)

I do agree somthing need to be done about cyclist running red lights maybe its time to fit a license plate to the back of them ?

But weather its a motorbike or push bike give them a chance every bike on the road is 1 less car in front of you

The clue in your comment is, quote: "....they say to you is sorry i did not see you.." and this is because they really did not see you. Cyclists seem to think that drivers pull out on purpose when they see a bike - now really, this cannot be true, anyone who believes this is very wrong.
Following on from this, it would be a good idea if bikers took this on board, and try and look after themselves - be seen and look out for drivers who genuinly do not see you - after all they are at risk of injury. There will always be the odd driver who does cut up cyclists, but it is usually to stop them coming in front at the next lights, then the car oertakes, and again the cyclists comes in front at the next lights and so on. In these cases, it is better the cyclist jumps the lights and gets out of th eway of these irritated drivers who may do something silly.
I agree, the road is for everyone, and if we take the anger out of this debate, teh problems can be resolved.
But, cyclists have to pay tax, insurance, etc. and have minimum safety requirements, a cyclists MOT. They should not be allowed on the pavements on these specially constrcuted cycle lanes. These are a danger to pedestrains as cyclists trabel on these at high speeds. Also, they are paid for using our tax money!! The cyclists want everything but don't want to pay for anything.

Think Bike is aimed at motorcyclists not push bikes, and as someone who has been a motorcyclist on the wrong end of a car, namely the bonnet, windscreen, roof then road, and ended up needing emergency surgery, to have someone say "I just did not see you", is not an acceptable response. I don't really understand why so many people here are against a campaign aimed at saving lives through extra vigilance whilst driving.
