Nokia E71 on "3" or Vodafone?

POSTED BY: brucem 3 months, 2 weeks ago

Looking to get a Nokia E71. Currently it's available on "3" and Voadafone.
I am currently a Vodafone customer and they have offered the following upgrade.
100 Mins 50 Texts 18 Month Contract @ £20 month

Current "3" offer is
300 mins or texts, 90 video mins 18 month contract for £24 month.
In addition you get Skype, Messenger, Ebay, Facebook, Bebo etc all free on "3".
And I woul qaulify for quidco and refer a friend (if I can find someone on "3").

Is there any reason not to go for the "3" deal. And are there any other offers/freebies I should be looking for?

Ya try phoning to see if Voda will match it. If they don't, ask for your PAC code and Voda's retention team will phone you and try to get you to stay. You should then be able to get them to match the 3 team since the retention team is always able to give better deal than when you just call Voda yourself to upgrade.

Yep. 3 is rubbish. Poor POOR reception. I was with 3 once upon a time and with them all I ever got was no bars of reception. Was so happy to get away from them.

I know "3" used to have a bad reputation for reception, but then so did Orange & T-Mobile in the early days. Not heard much negative about them lately though.
Still at the moment I'm trying to get Vodafone to do me a reasonable deal. Got someone calling me later on today....

I got the E71 on 3 as an upgrade and I was very impressed with the build quality!

I have been with 3 for 15 months now and never had any recpetion issue, but I hardly go out of London, so not sure.

3 are cheap and thats what matters for me.

2 things about the E71,
1) doesnt use a normal USB cable
2) doesnt use a normal 3.5mm stereo headphones port, uses 2.5mm

PM me if you would like a 3 friend.

Vodafone were supposed to come back to me on Wednesday to discuss my upgrade.
So far I have heard nothing. Their gonna have to pull out all the stops to keep me now...!!

I've also just heard that as from September "3" ulimited internet option at £5 will include their email service as well. Beat that Vodafone

I just got the Nokia E71 from Vodafone as an upgrade to my N95

Got 200 mins, 200 texts and free internet. On a 12 month contract.
£25 a month.

Build quality of the E71 is very very impressive - way better than the N95.

Spoke to Vodafone to see if Icould get the same deal (200 mins 200 texts free internet on a 12 month contract). They woudn't play ball. Said I coud have the phone on a 18 month contract with my current plan (75 mins 100 texts @ 20 month)
Didn't bother to offer me another alternative or any other "sweeteners". So it looks like I will be asking for my PAC number on 10th September and going elsewhere.

Asking for your PAC will get you put through to retentions - who seem to be able to offer better deals.
Get a price from 3 and ask Vodafone to match it

I've already asked them to match the Vodafone deal posted here. They just wouldn play ball
I have been speaking to retentions as I had asked about when I could request a PAC code.
I'll give it one more go on the 10th September, before I go elsewhere. Thanks for all the advice, just wish it had worked. Sill, maybe I'll get a better reponse on the 10th
