WD/ebuyer one looks like it does not need power adaptor, so that one is better for some.

I was considering this last night, at £95 as posted yesterday, so this has to be a good price I think, although I hadn't realised it had to be externally powered - thanks for pointing that out. WD might look a better bet for me.

most 3.5 drives need to be externally powers , its the 2.5 drives that dont.

The power requirements would be to extreme on a USB hub/interface.

I have a WD & it needs an external power supply. As already remarked its the tiny 2.5" drives that don't but they currently max out at 320Gb (although 500Gb is coming)

Just so you know.....ALL 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drives will have an external power supply , ALL 2.5" Portable drives will run off USB power alone although some require a Y Splitter cable and 2 USB slots

Not all 3.5" need external power supply. Some have the power supply built in the case, yes they are not bus powered but the important thing is they do not need an external power brick.

I bought this just last week at £94.99 from Amazon.
Fortunately I can use their price match so thats a fiver saved, thanks!

BTW, these drives use Samsung SpinPoint F1 drives, so very quiet and good performance.

Heat Added!
