i've voted cold because it's not really free if you hafve to pay a fitting fee. I've worn contact lenses for ages but since i've moved to the UK the opticians always want to charge me a fitting fee when i already know everything i need to know about contact lenses so i will just wear my glasses. I'm not giving them my money for something that i already know.

daysoft lenses

ive been wearing them for a few months now cuase i kept getting eye infections when wearing monthlies
at 4.99 per 32 (although you have to order 4 boxes (or 2 months worth) to get this price) they are really cheap and really comfortable.

Also, tesco opticians charge a £10 fitting fee for new users, and i tried 5 different brands for free before giving up!, just for those thinking of giving contacts a try....

Daysofts are great value, but also not nearly as nice as focus dailies (for example). Incidentally you can buy pretty much any lens without going to an optician - and usually more cheaply - from places like visiondirect. It is difficult to get truly free trials though, unfortunately.

I've switched from focus dailies to daysoft, I actually prefer daysoft!, so much easier to remove as they are thicker and for me just as comfortable, I usually wear mine for 12 hours and I dont have any issues, just ordered 4 months worth last week.

If you have a had a fitting in a certain timeframe, they won't charge you again, only if you go outside of their recommended period I think?

another vote for daysoft. i switched from focus dailies and daysoft are FAR more comfortable. the rounded edges are great, they don't "cut" intou your eye when you're putting them in as much.

I wear these, have worn focus dailies for years and had a free trial at Tesco opticians for the aquacomfort plus, and they are so comfortable. They are £32 for 30 pairs, and of course you get points too. I thoroughly recommend these lenses to anyone. Hope this helps someone xx
