Family and Friends Railcard - how much do I pay now my daughter is 16?

I bought a 3 year Family and Friends Railcard on 14th August and my daughter was 16 on the 19th August. When buying the railcard, I checked that it would be valid and was told it would be since it was bought when my duaghter was under 16. Now she is 16, do I pay the full adult price for her when using the railcard (party will be 2 adults plus my daughter). To purchase tickets on the internet does not seem to allow purchase of 3 adult tickets and no child's ticket using the Railcard.

i think you have to have a child travelling with you to qualify for the discount

hi, since she 16 you wont be allowed to use your railcard unless you have a child on the journey aged 5-16,

When I purchased the Railcard i asked if I could still use it after she was 16 and was told it was ok. What I forgot to ask was which rate do I pay, adult or child. It works in a similar way to the 16 to 25 years card - you can still use that card after you reach 26 so long as you were 25 when it was purchased.

then you where told wrong, you have to have at least one child under 16 traveling with you to use this card, although you dont need id with dob on it

At last - I've found the relevant section in the Terms and Conditions (after a bit of help) and quote it here in case it might help other people, since it contradicts the replies I've received so far.

Special notes regarding children’s tickets – Children aged under 16 at the time that the Railcard is purchased may still travel at the discounted child’s fare throughout the validity period of the Railcard, even though they become 16 years old during that time. If the only child in the Family & Friends Railcard group is aged under five years, the Railcard holder must purchase a discounted ticket for that child in order for the Railcard holder(s) to qualify for the discount on their tickets.

not worded briliantly, i read it to mean, the 16 year old is now classed as an adult but pays the childs discounted price, therefore still needing a child to travel with you

dont think they going to ask for id for the 16 yr old anyway, but let us know how you get on
