If you put £30 crdit on it Virgin will unlock it for nothing or you can do what i did and got a friend who has a Virgin sim to put it in my Virgin mobile and called them up to ask for the unlock code and they posted the code to him for free, then he text it to me

They stopped doing this in May this year.
I tried to get my old phone unlocked last month and they wanted to charge £15 even though I have spent £100s with them. When I asked for the PAC codes for my four accounts they asked why I was leaving but they were still prepared to let them go for the sake of £15!

Yeah same here I've been with Virgin a few years now and on sim only for the last 18 months. I've just bought a K770i from their overpriced shop using my Red discount but the beggers want £15 just to unlock it despite the £ hundred's I've paid them over the years.

I'm gonna move to O2 Simplicity as it's a much better deal and better signal wise too.

I put it to their CS rep the other day that they were only charging this £15 because too many people were leaving but he reckoned the real reason was because "Every other network charges to unlock their phones so why shouldn't we".

Gonna see if I can do it myself first with Setool and XS++. If not our local market does unlocks for £10 but either way will invalidate the warranty so if I can't do it myself for free I might aswell bite the bullet and pay Virgin the £15 and keep the warranty intact.

phoned my local one but they did not have it, she pulled it up on the computer and gave me details of other stores on the computer showing stock so if you live near Kidlington or the old Milton Keynes store they have them!
