FWIW it was on the counter that does the photo developing, away from the electricals, so not with the display that has cameras, phones and sat navs on it

It was definately the 400D, and had the 18-55 lens with it
I only noticed it as my mate got a 2nd hand one yesterday for £150 so had a look to see what the price was new

I will say I have no idea if its in other stores or which ones sell sell them, but it was a proper printed lable, so presume its a national price, although could be wrong.

Our Sainsburys in Ipswich has just had a massive refurb and it sells DSLR cameras. I saw this very camera there this afternoon and wished i hadn't been shopping with the missus!!!

Saying that i didn't see if it was £299 i was just browsing................. and dreaming ........................

its about time they put this down in price as it has been overpriced for god knows how long. used to be £450. Also i think its the newer or refurbed sainsburys that sell them because my nearest sainsburys didnt sell dslrs until the refurb.

Your better just buying the body anyway as the standard lense aint great and you will hardly use it once you buy a better lense.

For anyone who can't get one of these - The Canon Outlet store on Ebay sells them all the time, mint condition, full 12 month warranty etc
