Looking for a very cheap (unlocked) mobile phone (to work with O2 sim)

POSTED BY: flashjohny 3 months, 23 minutes ago

Dear members,

I washed my sony ericsson K700i in the washing machine yesterday. Now nothing except the O2 sim card is working. Do you know of a very cheap phone which can be used just for making calls and doing SMS ?
I want it just for 4 to 5 months.

Thanks and Regards,
flashjohny

You often end up paying a lot more for an unlocked mobile as they are more sought after so my advice would be to buy a cheap mobile (have seen some for £10 in shops on offer before) and just get it unlocked in a local shop for about £5.

I understand that all phones from the carphone warehouse are unlocked. So you could just buy the cheapest phone they sell to keep you going. Also don' throw away your washed phone we have had two get very wet and dried them out in the airing cupboard for a few days and they were fine. My husband has a Nokia N95 and that has been fine.

This is a good suggestion. Sister dropped her phone down the toilet on holiday and it is now fine (except for the ruined battery). Just take it apart as much as you can and leave the parts in a warm place so the water can evaporate away.

The cheapest phones being advertised as on the "o2" networks (as above, there may be cheaper phones on other networks that are unlocked, but this is never guaranteed) are:

1. The Sony Ericsson T250i (Silver)

e2save have the phone for £19.99 when you buy £10 airtime (total price of £29.99). Delivery is £4.99 per order, bringing the price to £34.99. If you purchase via QuidCo.com then you can earn £5 cashback on that purchase.

Mobiles.co.uk have the same phone for £24.99, when you buy £10 airtime. As their delivery is free, this is the same price as the e2save deal (unless you're buying more than one cashback). Only thing is, there's no QuidCo on PAYG phones, so it's not a great deal at all.

2. The Nokia 2310 (Red)

Mobiles.co.uk have this phone for £24.99 when you buy £10 airtime and free delivery (total price of £34.99). Again, no QuidCo.

Important Info

Obviously the e2save deal is the best, unless you prefer the Nokia.
The £10 airtime can't ba applied to your current o2 SIM (if that's what you plan to use) - it will be added to the SIM card that comes with the phone!!

IF YOU NEED ANY MORE HELP THEN JUST POST BACK HERE!!
