What the hell is wrong with you people?

Acer aspire one is about £20 more! Bigger screen better processor, better keyboard, overall a better machine - and I'm in a position to judge because I have had both and I didn't touch the ****** Asus because my 4.13" Nokia N800 has a better resolution than this peice of ****!

Sorry - I thought this forum was about good deals - I like the Asus machine - does what I need it to do. Even if you feel the way you do there is probably more polite ways to express yourself .

I think your reply is OTT - the OP didn't suggest that you eat a hamster or anything - they just posted what they considered to be a good deal - Chill.

Voted hot.

Whoaah! Who rattled your cage...there's nothing wrong with 'us' people. The OP posted a deal, which happens to be pretty decent and you go ape on him, and it's his second post and all. Are you trying to scare off new folk from contributing to this site, or what? Or are you just trying to live up to the name 'rash'. Time to cut down on the caffeine, hotshot!

The thing is that I actually agree with you, the Aspire is the better machine and I can comment, as I own a 701 and have used the Aspire enough to know it's better appointed. But there're ways of putting that point across other than "What the hell is wrong with you people?". Jeez!

I agree with you.
However, I think the 701 has a longer battery life (and lots of accessory available, like... mega capacity battery )

Indeed. Although for awesome battery life, you have to go the 901 route with its 4.5-6.0 hour life. But at £300, it's almost twice the price of this baby.

This is a great price for an extremely useful piece of kit. Many of us bought one on the Marshall Ward deal earlier in the year for a bit more than this. It is absolutely perfect if you need something for web use whilst travelling and dont want to lug a full-size lappy around. It was invaluable for making bookings, finding local restaurants and attractions, Skype, e-mailing and general web stuff whilst on holiday and small enough to slip into a rucksack. Take Linux off, strip XP down to 200Mb using N-Lite, add a 16Gb High speed SD card and you'll have everything you'll need to get the best out of this machine.

Come on guys work with me on this, please?

Tell me you guys are not buying this! Why would you buy this when you can get a Aspire One for only £20 more?

This is pretty rubbish. I bought an ASUS 1000H with Win XP, 80GB HDD, 10" screen for £330 of ebuyer, best thing i ever bought. Oh and to the guy going on about acer aspire, it will fall apart in 2 weeks.

Spend some more and get a 1000H series, huge hardrive and fully upgradeable. This machine is out of date now and not really worth it.

Why LOL

could it be because acer are the biggest pile of **** on the planet?

I wouldn't have any acer branded "GIVEN" to me

The products are cheap and nasty, they overheat, crack, breakdown, and their customer service is utter ********!

Does this clear up why!

I would agree that it would be better spending a little more on a 'netbook' as these are now known. I personally went for the Advent 4211 as it is exactly the same as the MSI Wind but can be had for £279.99 which is £50 or so cheaper thant the Wind and the Asus 1000H.

Also just to say there seems to be no real advantage of these solid state disks too over the normal hard disks in real world use either. This might help you compare the various netbooks around if you are in the market for one.

You can mod it with a cheap 7" touchscreen

I assume you don't know much about Netbooks. In the future, don't bother posting. The Acer Aspire One is an excellent netbook, and has won a lot of awards.

I went for the 901 this week, can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow.

I know enough about netbooks thanks, I own two Asus EEE models and I've modded one with a touchscreen.

As with ALL acer notebooks they are raved about in magazines for being fast and cheap priced, but you can ask most people on here that their build quality and customer service should it go wrong is dire.

Trust me when I say i would advise anyone thinking about buying an acer product to stay well clear.

Coming out with a statement that i know nothing about netbooks is pretty stupid, when you don't even own one, you don't even know me and your judging my comments on my knowledge.
