Letter received about doing 62mph in 50mph zone

POSTED BY: Cyrus 2 months, 2 weeks ago

They want details of who was driving and their licence details.
It does not say I need to pay any penalty in this letter.

Has anyone received something similar ? What happens from here on ?

Thanks

you may well receive one once you submit details...

at least, you've been doing 7mph over the limit, as 50 + 10% = 55 - 62 = 7mph!

you will probably get 3 points, and a £30/60 fine. Be honest and own up if you were driving. telling lies will only get you into more trouble

Request photo evidence of the incident!

You, the registered keeper of the car, have been notified of speeding. If it was you, you need to complete paperwork and return. If it wasn't you, fill in the section saying who WAS driving and return to them.

it's the law to provide details of who was driving.

if the registered keeper doesn't provide the info - they get the fine + points etc.

it's a well established thing - nowt you can do about it.

I had a letter saying I had been doing 38 in a 40.... resulted in the option of me being able to pay £60, and attend a Speed Workshop, and incur no points............... or not attend, pay £60 (I think) and have 3 points added to my licence.

Have a clean licence, so was happy to be given the chance to go the workshop.

Worth phoning and asking what options u have.

How long will the penalty points stay on my licence?

Penalty points are valid for a period of 3 years, but cannot be removed from your licence until 4 years have elapsed.

points last three years, though you can't have them removed from your licence until four years has passed. insurance companies usually ask if you've any points in last five years, though one speeding conviction is unlikely to alarm them

i think it's likely you'll be offered a speed awareness course under these circumstances.
