Help with buying new virgin media cable box.

Ring virgin, you can't offically buy a cable box, they remain the property of VM, unlike Sky boxes.

If i go through virgin, I'll have to sign up to something else won't I? With monthly fees on top of what I'm already paying?

if its a modded box ur buying from ebay it will work just check with the buyer it is compatable with ur as the modded box will work in certain are
eg
a modded box from scotland wont work in midlands but will work anywhere in scotland

It's not a modded box, its a standard virgin media box that comes with remote viewing card cables. I just want to know that if I buy this, will it recieve the channels as to what I'm signed up with in my subscription or will it be a certain few or will it be none :(

you wont get the channels you are curently getting you will just get a few how much are you paying for the box and what model is it?

If it was right it might have! A modded box from scotland won't work anywhere in scotland

If you are buying a modded box then you need to get the person to set the netid for you, and you need to make sure the box is compatible with your area.

If you ring retentions you mighht get an extra box with the same channels free if you threaten to leave, and that way its legal

You will get the basic freeview channels and thats all
Ignore what the seller says too, it isn't his box, he is selling something that doesn't belong to him

i think thats a modded box not sure which box it is the seller states its a sammy box however never seen a sammy box like that 1 can somebody confirm it is.

BEWARE

If you buy ANY VIRGIN box you can be charged with reieving stolen goods, and possibly if you actively look for one other charges

Virgin boxes ALWAYS remain the property of virgin/ntl/telewest whatever stamp/badge is on them, they NEVER sell the boxes and you cannot buy them legitematly anywhere

any ones for sale will be stolen, even if the guy selling it says, it used to be my box i stopped subscribing, they still belong to virgin and they cannot legally be sold.


Also if you buy ANY box to connect to virgin cable, or any other cable company it's not allowed
they will ONLY allow their own boxes to be connected

say for instance the box you bought somehow devolped a fault and it sent a voltage down the cable and damaged some component in the green box outside, (unlikely but HAS happened) then virgin would not only have you charged with recieving their services without paying, but also have you in court for the cost of the repair of any equipement damaged, and that would run in to possibly many thousands of £'s there is no way of you fighting this or arguesing because you cant prove what was or wasnt damaged by your box.

it's just not worth the hassle, if you want freeview tv channels buy a freeview tv/box or freeview satellite

Also with regards to modified boxes, if you use one of these then your commiting several other "crimes" that can and do get reported and people end up in court for.
It's illegal to recieve pay tv services without paying for them
