I'm not sure if that's a revolutionary design or just plain ugly.

Yep..here's the blurb for it on the Misco site:

The inspiration of the shape of the machine comes from the design ideas of POP art, but the design structure jumps away from the basic shape. Vibe uses a unique and elegant arch shape with twin-colour (black and white) to add a little more splendor to your home. Moreover, the amplifiers can be combined or separated to accommodate your needs and requirements for the home environment or interior designs. This product will surely attract both men and women who are stylish, tasteful and pay high attention to the quality of life.

I would imagine that the speakers would have a lot to live up to to justify being such an integral and prominent feature.

Looks OK to me for the price though. Although not my sort of thing.

I'm not sure what to think of the design, but £271 for a 32" TV is a good price, and Hannspree are a known brand...so I'm gonna vote hot.

That is so cool - I want it. It's unique and makes a change from the rest of the bland looking lcds.

If it had been a 37" or preferably a 40"+ then I would have it anytime.

I also have the 50's version and it's more than exceeded my expectations. I got it from Misco with a free xbox 360 last year (deal from here) and only intended to use it for gaming but it out performs the "premium" panels of my friends for picture quality and the sound is definitely not budget either.

The panel is linked to a thomson pvr via a standard ariel and even setanta looks fine...

The only gripe I have it that so far it will only recognise the supplied remote.

Yup, I got one of the 50's style ones from misco for 200 quid last year (via here of course) and whilst the speakers are larger than I'd ideally like, the sound is awsome

Edit - my only gripe too - can't find a code to use my sky remote

I think the design is pretty funky, but just looking at the pics I'd be willing to bet that the speakers on this are much better than the tiny little in-built speakers on most LCDs/Plasmas.

Contrast ratios should be taken with a pinch of salt. The 10000:1 headline figure is "Dynamic" contrast, which means they use signal processing to **** the test results. Turning off the Dynamic Contrast, to make the picture watchable and the people less pink looking, and you get a far lower "actual usage" contrast figure, which is more like 1000:1. Then you switch the lights on in your room and it's more like 500:1.
