went into my local lloydspharmacy and they had one UK Firemaster - 600g Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher £1 so i asked if they had more and yes about 15 or so and all at £1

dont see this online but worth a look instore the date on them is end 2009 so you will get a year but for a £1 its worth it :)

UK Firemaster - 600g Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher

This 600g dry powder fire extinguisher is light in weight, simple to operate and is supplied with a sturdy steel clip for wall mounting. It may be used on BC fires (petrol, oil, gas, paints, solvents and greases). It is also safe for use on electrical fires.

Warning: Not to be used on deep fat fryers or fires involving mains or bottled gas.

Will check out the local store tomorrow, I doubt there is much stock around at these prices. I will buy what I can get at that price. I for every floor on the house, cars, friends etc…

These should "hopefully" last beyond their self by date?

There are pressurised? Everything consumable has to have one these days but if they are sealed....

Sadly not, 1 kg on almost all car fires is not enough and gives a false sense of security. 600 g will be even less worthwhile. In a house, the odds are that a fire would be slower to catch, thus smaller than in a car is perhaps ok. Buy a reasonably sized extinguisher otherwise you may aswell not bother. Anybody who has done any basic firefighting training will give you very similar information; having an undersized extinguisher can be more dangerous than not having one at all. Stick with 2 kg+ if you want it to put out a fire.
