OOoooh. THAT sound like sex.

Just thought I'd mention that there is a more attractive & conventional looking 2.1 Litre model on offer for £35.00 too.

AND it comes complete with a phenolic knob!!
(Sorry, it's just my frame of mind .)

I'm umming and arring now as had intended on getting an electric dome kettle but all the reviews are cr ap.

We do like a brew though and I'm not sure what's putting me off these as they are lovely, possibly just the boiling time. What are the pros and cons, can any folk who have them let me know please? I'd be so grateful. The hunt for a new kettle is giving me a right headache. This may be the answer! (I hope!)

Cheers lots!

I've got one of these & its great.

Looks good, I haven't had any limescale yet, heats up fairly quickly (on a good gas burner), its easy to keep clean & its not like the heating elements going to give out is it!

I got mine for £25 as well & I think its a bargain. Heat added

If anyone is worried about their energy usage stay away from these not the most effiecnt way to heat water otherwise I guess they have a 'cool' factor!

"I'm umming and arring now as had intended on getting an electric dome kettle but all the reviews are cr ap.a brew"

We were exactly the same, looked and looked and looked for a decent electric kettle but couldn't find one with a good review

So we decided to take that backward step and get one of these. Turns out to be brilliant

Yes the whistle packed up on our first one and my partner forgot he had put the kettle on whilst watching match of the day! Le Creuset was excellent and replaced the kettle straight away

Never had a problem with limescale and we live in a hard water area

As a previous post said it is very easy to keep clean

Yes it does take longer than an electric kettle to boil but you just get used to it

Hope this helps

PS It also frees up space on your work surfaces, if like me you're short of it

To be fair I think a few of the more negative reviews are a load of ****.

The one person that talks about using the kettle on the lowest flame and then complaining that it overheats is asking for trouble! If you boil it on a low heat then by the time the water has heated up then so has the whole kettle, you boil it on the highest heat you can and the water will boil nicely and all will be good. I don't get what people are saying about the spout overheating and spitting either. I suspect they're trying to pour through the whistle which is not what you're meant to do....

That said it does take a hell of a lot of time to boil. A replacement for a good electric kettle this is not! It looks very very nice though and if that matters then this is a great buy but if you want something that's quick and energy efficient then this is not for you....

i guess these would be ideal if you had an Aga or something that was constantly on from an energy efficiency point of view. but until then i think i'll be sticking with my electric kettle

I bought one of these kettles from Amazon but was very disappointed. Its a lovely looking thing but takes only a very small amount of water and if you do fill it higher than the bottom of the spout inside then it shoots boiling water all over the place!

Also, the whistle stopped working after about two sessions because some of the steam seeps through the lid so there isn't enough pressure for the whistle to work. Such a shame and would have expected more from Le Creuset. I suspect this is why they have been reduced. Still a good find though, not knocking the price!

Oh and it does also take several days to boil.

*sigh* there is a maximum water level that is marked which is BELOW the spout. Why fill it higher than the reccomended level and then complain about it? If you filled a conventional kettle that high it would also spit water out and this kettle is no different.
