Slight problem with expiring threads.

POSTED BY: richardg 1 month, 2 weeks ago

People cannot find/access them again to read the replies! - and in my case I suspect that some of those replies explained why the post was expired/spammed which would have prevented me (and others?) trying to post again.

With regard to this thread: http://hotukdeals.com/item/253657/why-is-my-post-deleted

It was very nice of people to reply, but again what is the point if I cannot access the thread again to read it because someone has expired and locked it?
It was full of valid responses that I needed to see - and perhaps others.

If I search for the thread, I cannot find it. And I cannot see reference to it in my user settings page.
(Thanks for the replies BTW - I can now see where I went wrong with my original deal and I should have re-checked my e-mails. Apologies. )

Unfortunately the only reason I saw these replies was because I used the back button then refresh on my browser to check my sanity (again) to ensure that I had indeed posted.

If this is happening to other users I can see frustration happening for both users and Mods.
Can something be done about this please? There is little point offering advice or comments then making the post unreadable/unfindable.

Hope this helps as I love the site.

Do you have "Include Expired" switched on?

You should still be able to view expired posts, however if your deal has been spammed, ie if it's a duplicate, you won't be able to view it.

I've just checked & the thread you mentioned is still there > http://hotukdeals.com/item/253657/wh...y-post-deleted

Click SHOW TOOLS+ displayed on right side of banner that has page numbers listed on it in text only view, then viewing options will be displayed & click INCLUDE EXPIRED

Thx again for the replies - I now can find the thread I posted the link to, by 'including expired'.

Obviously I still cannot find/see the original 'illegal' post(s) I made which, if I could, I suspect may have stopped me re-posting the item if the replies had contained a reason.

So whilst I now know the correct work around, it is probable that many others don't so the issue of frustrated members may still exist.

Is it possible to send a private msg for 'illegal' post that are deleted and/or make the default option when signing up as 'see expired'.

Thanks for all your time help and replies.

When you click that show tools button a green FILTER BY MERCHANT box will appear above the page numbers. Type your retailer name in there <morrisons> & a drop down list will appear. Select the one you want & all the posts relating to that retailer will be listed. 5 listings down is the original light bulb thread. Always worth doing a quick check before you post a deal > http://www.hotukdeals.com/all/all/di...rrisons&mf=241

But the odd thing is, if you click on the ops name and look to see what threads they've started it doesn't appear in the list.

But the post is indeed still there
