for those of you who missed out on the deal from three via quidco where you got mobile broadband internet half price - I saved two of the links and they still work!!!! and jimsdeals has proivided the £5 one.

here they are

http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=18M1ECD009

£5 a month thanks to jimsdeals for this link!

http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=18M5ECD006

remember to go via quidco and then change the address page to reflect the above also print out all receipts etc incase of any dispute - they may stop this link once they realise its still active so i would hurry

This is a really good deal, but more for the non-three customer. Three customers already get a 50% discount on all mobile broadband options.

But wait a minute...can you get a 50% discount on this as well, bringing it down to £3.75 a month for 5GB? I am so getting it if that were the case, like pocket money...

Until these providors cease to charge astronomical charges for going over your data limit ( unlike T mobile who have a Fair Usage policy) I'm afraid its cold in my book. I can see how the deal would be attractive to some but, for me, its not worth the risk.

You can set it not to go over the limit in the control panel of your account (or at least I read you can!), but 5GB for surfing and emails is massively more than you will ever use. I use mine daily at work (on a 3GB cap) for about 90 minutes. Have had it for 3 months and only just got to 1GB in all of that time.

I use three mobile broadband with 5gb limit for £7.50/m. Its great!!! i do some p2p but I have yet to go over my limit and also if you register at three .co.uk you can keep tabs on how much usage you have left. However if you're going to be a prolific downloader get the top package if it's at half price you CANNOT go wrong!
I get downloads at 256KB/s from some sites which is same as what my sis gets on her virgin media broadband service which is fixed.
But here's the clincher! When i go out i take the sim out of my USB modem and put it in my nokia n95 8gb mobile phone. I have bookmarked HUKD and when i'm in town if a hot deal comes up i'm on to it mega quick (just try walking round town with your laptop!)
My vote? HOT HOT HOT!

Guv, do you have any problem with coverage? Have to admit that given the risk of going over based on what you ve said it does look a little tempting. Also, what about their customer service.. ive not heard its not the best.
ps... hope its all work related your 90 mins of daily surf !

I notice this comes with a SIM, let's say I have a 3G phone will that SIM be compatable and does this deal include data use on the sim, ie. the data use which is included in the 5GB monthly broadband useage?

Will your PC/Laptop not connect to the service through the Phone, via cable or bluetooth rather than all the SIM Swapping; and surely then you can receive calls on the phone then too, or am I being a bit simplistic, and 3 will not allow or cater for this?

I am not a 3 user, but have used 2g phones as Modems for laptop and Pocket PC before, how do 3rd generation Phones compare in this respect?

(Not currently in a position to need it, but I can foresee a time soon it may well be a good option for someone in my household)

Should be compatible with any three phone supporting data/web browsing the monthly allowance is what you can use in TOTAL whether via mobile phone or USB modem on pc/laptop. However the data usage with this SIM in your phone is such that it would take hours and hours of surfing with your handset to use up 5 gb (you could not do it with 5gb in one month)

you can use your mobile as a modem via your pc/laptop but then you need an external power supply to your phone (some models) and i reckon the modem is optimised for better performance than a mobile phone as a modem, besides i use the mobile phone to surf all day on one charge you won't get that with a laptop and you can walk n surf!

Would this be Mac compatible? I'm sure my work colleague would be very tempted.

He refuses to pay the astronomical BT line connection for his flat and goes into work at the weekends just so he can chat!
