Shop staff sit on thief (video BBC news)

POSTED BY: lumoruk 1 month, 2 weeks ago

Sorry that it's old but I laughed my head off at the end when his wig fell off, anyone think the guy that walked at at the beginning was an accomplice?

I was more amazed at how quickly he was in and out, 1 minute!!! Took the Sat nav car charger and was checking under the seats and in the back for the Sat nav device.

Got a point actually, unless they've seen him steal something before.

i would have knocked him out there and then, and there would be no need sitting on him lol

his reaction is so obious his stole something. i dont think most people would wait till he left the shop to actually get him.

Anybody with a brain who works in retail would have left him, as has already been pointed out he could sue the shop for what they did.

As I pointed out if he had stolen something earlier on (I don't know the legal time frame) maybe years before and they knew it was him plus had evidence on camera, they could arrest him there and then.

aaaaannnddd.....you don't leave them, you grab the *******s as soon as they leave the shop. What they did was perfectly legal, he struggled so they used minimal force to apprehend him.

You'd struggle too if 3 or 4 people jumped on you like that, I'm not sure that what they did was legal either, he wasn't aggressive towards them until they jumped on him, then that's where he struggled, ok he had the hockey stick in his hand but it was never raised or used in an intimidating manner by him, in fact one of the guys who pinned him down picked it up and used it against him, chances are not one of them have had any training in restraint techniques in fact its obvious they haven't. They could have easily cause injury to him. I had to do a three day training course a few years back with south yorkshire police just doing restraint techniques in order to work the doors and was told that anything other than approved methods can leave you open to charges if you hurt someone other than the brief pain used in the techniques (this pain goes within seconds of letting go)

There's a big chunk missing out of the video - the two days it takes between phoning the police & the police turning up!
