Confused. Multiple User/Connected account.

It's been asked a few times in the past & it's okay if you explain situation before hand. Think it's to ensure one user doesn't have mulitple logins as they could in theory heat up their own deals, give themselves good feedback etc

Im not really very good with technology but i think this may be because both of your accounts are likely to be linked to the same IP address.

The reason why I ask is he recieved an ifraction, and I later logged in to find I had also recieved the same infraction, although it was his doing. I got a 1 day suspension for it. Not very fair, but life isn't!

I see. But I thought you weren't physically able to leave subsequent rep for the same person anyway? It says you have to spread it around before you give them anymore, so if people make up multiple accounts for that reason, it's hardly worth the hassle! lol.

I've seen MODS remove infractions in cases like yours. Just explain it to them & put on your sweetest smile

The rep thing is a bit weird. I think that you can't give more than 10 reps in one day, & also can't rep the same person within 10 reps over any period.

Well I have PM'ed the Mod who gave me the infraction, so we'll see. I can see where they are coming from, but it's a bit harsh to give two lots of infraction for a single incident on my boyfriend's behalf (it was to do with an item I had FS on another site, and he stupidly mentioned on here in a wanted thread)

He and I both realise what he did wrong, but at the time he did it, it was a genuine mistake on his behalf as he forgot I had listed it elsewhere, but it was fair enough he got an infraction for it.. I just couldnt unserstand why I did as well. Oh well, we live and learn.

so it sounds like the infraction was actually to do with an item for sale ... maybe the infraction on the other account was for having 2 accounts at the same IP address?!

The mods usually ban the newer account and suspend the older one, you got off lucky

You were selling an iPod Mini on the For Sale in an active thread...........at the same time your partner was offering it to people on his account as well.

For you both to be using the For Sale is not a good idea.....it's very open to abuse as shown with the iPod incident.

Also.....if the item was for sale on another site as well then that is another rule break as you were also selling it here........not off to a good start. lol

Well, it wasn't exactly like that. When my partner mentioned it on a wanted thread (stupidly) my Ipod thread had been expired for a good few hours, so it was no longer an active thread on hukd. I expired it so that I could advertise it elsewhere.

When I was selling it here, it was not advertised anywhere else. I knew this was a big no no, and I made sure to end the thread on here before I even thought about listing it elsewhere. I understand what my partner did was wrong (after I expired the thread and listed elsewhere he offered it in a wanted thread) but I had followed the rules. This is why I was confused about the infraction.. I personally had not listed the item in 2 places @ one time.

So if we both have items to sell, what should we do? As I understand, another rule on here is that you are not allowed to offer other people's items for sale. So my boyfriend would also be breaking the rules if we shared his account for the FS section and Sold my items under his name, so that we both weren't using it. I thought we were doing it the legit way by having our own account and own Feedback.

Can't win either way, lol.

You need to use the CONTACT US link and discuss it with Admin. 2 user accounts from the same household on For Sale is not allowed unless permission given due to the opportunity to scam. That's not an accusation but it's best for the protection of the members on here.

Also there is a 7 day wait before anything can be offered on here again which is also why you may have received the infraction even though your boyfriend offered it.

I recieved a warning and then an ifraction. Sorry if I didnt explain it properly lol, but the PM said my warning was for the connected account, which was a breach of forum rules and then I had another PM about the FS incident, which was to do with my partner.

My partner also recieved an infraction for the FS incident as well, so that's why I was confused. I had been suspended for something he had done, and something he had already been punished for. Hope that makes sense.

It's not important, I just couldnt understand how our accounts were apparently 'connected' (but now I know) and I couldn't understand why I had recieved an infraction for something he did.

This is the bit which I didn't understand... Techinically, I didn't break the 7 day rule, he did. But then if they view our account as connected, then that is why I suppose
