Best price for 1000 litres of domestic oil? Help appreciated.

POSTED BY: sickly sweet 1 month, 1 week ago

We have to refill our oil tank and wondering if anyone knows of any good places to get it cheaper than 49.99p a litre?
Wiltshire/Hampshire border.
Are there any comparison sites, I know there are for gas, but as it's more a one-off rather than a constant supply I thought uswitch and the likes wouldn't have the right info.
Does anyone have a lock on their oil tank aswell, to avoid people syphoning it? Where did you get it from, was it easy to attach and how expensive?
All help appreciated.

Thanks guys. I will definately give Kinch Fuel a ring in the morning. My searching online has led me to boiler juice (never heard of them before) and they are quoting 46.2p/litre which is really cheap by todays standards (lol, not compared to last year!) and they appear to be legit as people on moneysavingexpert have chatted about them, but I'm still searching for cheaper as they are a middle-man, so my reconing is if I go direct I should be able get a little bit more off.
I'm also looking for a oil tank lock - there is a slight concern over having £500+ worth of fuel unlocked in the garden in the tank, and a friend of ours locally was syphened, and if it happened to us we'd have no hot water or cooker. Anyone got one and can say how much of a deterrant it would be?

Boilerjuice is good, I have used them a few times in the past and they have come out on top, the only downside is that sometimes you have to wait a little longer for delivery. Another option is to try and form a buying group with your neighbours, this is what we did and we managed to negotiate another 1p a litre discount not much but it all helps. It is worth a try..

I doubt it would be too much of a deterrent if they want to they will get past it somehow, probably causing a hell of a lot of damage in the process too!

How about try the 'best price for 1000 litres of oil' shop, or alternatively post this in the correct forum, you might get a better response

Have you tried ringing at least 3 out of the yellow pages / thompson? I have used Countrywide Farmers before & they were pretty cheap last year ... but I'm in the Midlands!
http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/Home.ice

While you are on the phone with them, ask if they have any special offers / discounts going, or if they would beat another companies quote.

Can you only buy 1,000 litres? the more you buy the better the discount - you might find there is a price break at 1,500.

Also are you desperate to get the oil ASAP - as the price of oil is dropping it might be worth hanging on for a week or so in case the price goes down (yeah, right!)

My friends have a wireless driveway alarm plus cctv cameras in their yard as locks don't work. One sensor is held at their house and another sensor at their neighbours yard so get them with a wide range.

Thanks for the replies - and sorry foosball if I put this in the wrong place, where should it be and how do I change it? I'm quite new to this.
A police website said not to fit a lock on the tank as then the thieves pierce the tank and make a right mess like Harzler said - so the outside movement sensitive spotlight will have another bulb (been meaning to do that for months) instead.
Need oil delivered in next two weeks but the news said oil hit a 2008 low today so might be worth holding on those few extra days - how long does it normally take for the trading oil price to filter down and affect the domestic prices?
Tried 5 local oil companies but one yesterday said 54.9p/litre and the cheapest was still 49.99p/litre so boiler juice 46.2p/litreit will most likely be.
Great helps guys, will go and leave rep for you all now, thanks.
