The 55" is very tempting. I'm on the fence about buying something like this for the lounge and getting a smaller monitor for my PS5 (currently in the office), or just investing more in a TV.
    tdk2bu's avatar
I'd definitely invest more in a TV, this range is awful in my opinion and only worth looking at as a spare TV for occasional use. Even then I wouldn't buy it. This is Samsung's entry level TV, the next is the 8 range and then the 9. The 9 is when they get a fair bit better and worth looking at, although the sound quality on the 9 is also poor but I have a Samsung soundbar which makes a massive difference.

Purchased one of these last week.. Picture is ok once you have turned off all the energy saving features to boost brightness.
However the speakers are terrible. No bass whatsoever and sound very tinny.
They are far worse than the ones on my previous Samsung crystal uhd tv bought a few years ago.

The £11.99 (eBay seller refurbed) Sharp Soundbar HUKD deal posted by welshgaffer expired but I see they're selling them again for £14.99. I got one and am really pleased using it on my Samsung TV.

welshgaffer's recent HUKD deal on a Sharp soundbar expired - but now available again for a few quid more. Decent upgrade for my Samsung TV. (edited)

I have 50' from that model . Waste of money . Ultra slow

Starting to notice the same after a year

I had the TU7100 and to be honest the budget end of the Samsung 4k TVs are really quite poor. Very poor upscaling of any non 4k content (SD TV shows looked terrible). The TV had really poor brightness which meant HDR content looked really poor. Personally I would avoid the lower end Samsungs (edited)

As nearly all content I watch is SD or HD rather than 4K, that is my concern. I think I will keep a look out for discounts on a Sony TV as I read they upscale well.

Good job it has the free 5 yrs guarantee as the latest Samsung budget TVs are prone to fail. Awful interface and sound quality too, even at this price I'd avoid
    drunkenshinobi's avatar
100% need the five year guarantee for these disposable products.

Warning this TV is extremely dark in HDR. There is no back-light menu instead it's called shadow detail. It is a bad quality picture if you want accuracy and a lot of faces appear either too yellow or too red. I'm actually looking to get rid of my Au7020 as a result. Good 4K quality but inaccurate brightness and temperature.

    How's it £199? I'm seeing it for £249 then minus £30, £219
    connor97hayes's avatar
That's a different model the 43'' in the description is different to the one posted.
Read the title slowly and you'll realise what you've done
  9. Gumpy.Joe's avatar
This is a TP Vision set (Philips) and not a true Samsung.

    come on .... bruh.

Seems to be a downgraded version of the 2021 AU9000 series? Less USB ports and loses Freesync & 120fps gaming mode.. (edited)
    tdk2bu's avatar
Yeah I've got 9000, just had a look at Samsung website, looks like the new version of the 9000 range is the 8500.

The 120fps is not true 120fps but still it's a very good TV. Sound is awful but with Samsung soundbar, makes a huge difference.

Nice. My kid needs a new TV for his bedroom and I really don't want to spend £199 on a 32" HDR Full HD TV however I feel 43" might be a bit overkill for his room.
    Tony-C's avatar
There's no such thing as a too big TV, as long as you have a big enough empty wall.

Anyone find a price match that isn't John Lewis or Costco? In Northern Ireland.

It is definitely a good price, but I'm put off with Samsung TVs from previous experiences. It could just be my bad luck, but I've had 3 Samsung's in the past and each one after about 18 months started to have back light failures where certain parts of the screen would have a purple tint to them instead of black. Like blotches in certain areas. If you get the usual 5 year warranty with these from JL it could be worth a go, but just a heads up personally. I'm sure there's many who haven't suffered what I have.
    IRONM4N_UK's avatar
I've had similar with backlight issues on my Samsung
Decided to go with HiSense this time
Speakers aren't great but neither were the Samsung's

Just picked up the 55", the 43" ones are OOS. Thanks OP!

Is this just a £200 ad delivery system? Just do not trust Samsung at all.

Nice price but I don't get on with this TV. Got it through an insurance claim and the Samsung 9 series from 10 years ago seemed better.

Yes it has 4k and HDR and that content looks great, but on FHD or SD content it looked worse than the 14 year old Samsung C650 I was attempting to replace. Back it went.
    Ultrathon1's avatar
I'd bet it's bigger than your C650? Something a lot of people don't consider when buying new TV, SD content stretched over a bigger area will always look worse
  27. JohnnyFwaa's avatar
Why so much heat? The 43" LG has been at this price for a while hotukdeals.com/dea…780 - is the Shamdung better?
    Starb's avatar
People who have samsung phone prefer it to cast media. However I find samsung is slow and buggy but for this price and 5 year warranty it's worth a punt.

Good deal. I used to love John Lewis, but not so much any longer.

They took my TV back because it was faulty. Said I could choose another from their website or have a refund. I took too long to decide (yes, it was a long time, but their agent said there was no time limit). Now they refuse anything, because it is too long ago. Not nice!
    Starb's avatar
Should always get refund then decide

What’s better the UE43AU7020 or UE43CU7020. Looks like the former is OOS now but has 60Hz refresher rate vs 50Hz on the CU7020 which is still in stock. Looking to buy one as a present for my dad to replace an OG LCD Sony 32”
    chancooluk's avatar
All TV's sold in the UK as 50hz are also capable of 60hz. The CU7020 can do a max of 60hz at 4K.

They are often marketed as 50hz due to UK/EU broadcasting standards (PAL, 50hz, 25fps).
