sorted byThe other kick in the teeth is the way the OS is designed to speed everything up by caching to the SSD when ram is low. basically your soldered to the motherboard storage that can't be replaced is running a much higher failure risk when there is only 256gb that's constantly being hammered by up to 50+ GB of daily ram caching. Once the SSD fails the system becomes a coaster sadly. This issue is unlikely to flag up for 7-8 years plus unless you are constantly writing large amounts of data but if your someone who likes to get longevity out of your laptop you might be disappointed.
The base model at this point should be 16gb with 512gb of storage especially when you consider the memory is shared between the cpu and gpu as there is no dedicated video memory. A laptop with 8gb of ram and a rtx 3060 with 6gb of vram is certainly going to perform a lot better even on windows as none of that memory is shared.
