sorted byMay as well just go SSD if no m2 slot.
Unfortunately the macbooks from those years use a propietary connector - ifixit.com/Gui…251 - if you can get hold of an adapter it should work(tm).
Hey King,
I don't think the backup to an external drive needs to be bootable. You can boot macos from an external drive if you want. I've done this before when I cloned the internal drive to an external one as I wanted to do a fresh install, but was concerned I would forget to copy one of the important files.
smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/…14/ I use this enclosure with the Crucial P2 1TB NVMe for my mac, I think it's a similar SSD. No problems after 8 months.
Unfortunately it does not.
Should look out for Gen 4 NVme.
If your has the Bantry CRB 31900058 STD motherboard just check if its a twin slot m2 first as this is single slot.
This is Gen3 SSD which is the best price for 3rd Gen M.2 HDD. Gen4 M.2 SSD is more expensive, it is about £120 or slightly less.
Your mobo will take 4 x Gen4 M.2 SSD. You can use fill your slots with this drive but you will get gen3 speed which is still faster from 2.5 SSD.
But if you are buying this expensive mobo, consider getting expensive Gen4 m.2 SSDs like Samsung 980 Pro or WD Black. Prices for Gen4 just started to come down, it may come down further to £100 in the next few weeks.
Just grabbed 2 x SN850 to finish the build.
Using iGPU. 12700K, 64GB 3200. 2x1TB SN850. 3 x 18TB & a bad ass cooler lol. Only using it for compute. If I decide to game etc I’ll add the next equivalent of a 3080. - My laptop covers my gaming need
Thanks, just installed few as you suggested because I am after 3080.
Possibly. What disk is in there currently? This SSD installation video may give some clues
How to Upgrade/Replace the PCIe SSD in a 2014 Mac mini (Macmini7,1) - YouTube (edited)
if you have the required slot or you have an m2 to sata adapter as discussed above, obviously won't be as fast then though
You'll get 12 hours of 8k recording extra and maybe, just maybe you'll remember your mothers birthday . (edited)

Yes it works & no not much difference. This is the exact reason why I’m doing a custom DIY solution.
Has anyone seen any better SSDs than this for similar price for a new build in doing. The motherboard is ASUS Prime Z690M-PLUS D4 Intel Z690.
The SSDs will be used for proxmox as a hypervisor and then VMs / containers. Thinking of either RAID0/1 too. Any help would be great (edited)
It is SSD HDD M.2 type!! Did you mean 2.5 SSD HDD?
