I live in Paignton and very happy to do so. Like most coastal communities it has occasional problems but the pros far out way the cons and it has lots of amenities especially for families. Examples include beach, pier, zoo, steam train plus there are other beaches nearby. You also catch a regular bus to Brixham or Torquay. It's also a great place to explore further afield in South Devon including the South Hams which includes Totnes and Dartmouth.

When I was a youngster Torquay,Paignton were the jewel of Devon but not anymore local council and incomers claiming benefits have left them deprived and wanting

That is the reputation but it isn't too bad and has plenty of good stuff just a few miles away - Though the local Lidl staff seem to have a big problem with some of the local 'shoppers' from many overheard comments and incidents.

Paignton, Torquay and other towns in Torbay and surrounding areas are deprived.

Despite the areas deprived nature whenever I go there to visit family I find the air is so much fresher, the people are friendlier and the pace of life seems a lot slower. I will say the transport system isn't the greatest when it comes to the buses and forget driving a Chelsea tractor particularly round Torquay.

Good price. Do they charge extra to get the room cleaned?
