The image below may help you to decode what Ryzen 7 7435HS is (the 7640U in the picture is just an example how to read the table so you can ignore it).

I posted this table before, it's completely pointless - even AMD forgot how to name their CPUs! You will see from the second digit '4', it's meant to be a Ryzen 3, but it's actually a Ryzen 7 - which is not so bad as it's 8C/16T, unlike that awful 7520U they have which is marketed as a Ryzen 5 but only quad-core and shares more with the Ryzen 3 4300U.

They have the Ryzen 5 7235HS as well which is just as badly named.

I've heard people comment about TDP of the graphics card before, does anyone know what it is for this one please?

One thing I couldn't find was on average how long does the battery last?

Also if I mainly wanted to use it as a work laptop with occasional gaming, can the dedicated gpu be disabled to reduce power consumption?
    plewis00's avatar
No because it doesn't have an integrated GPU, this is probably one of the worst laptops for long battery along with most other gaming laptops that prioritise power and performance over battery. If battery life was important I would avoid this.

In before, “no integrated GPU on CPU so this will die early”

Jokes aside the Ryzen 7 + RTX 4060 offer at £680 previously was the better purchase imo. Also 3yr warranty is only £48 and well worth it.

Very tempted by this. It's a shame you can't upgrade it to the 4060 and still get the discount though. Is the 4050 a massive downgrade?
    petermcgregor14's avatar
Pretty big yeah, but the 4050 is a big improvement over a 3050

    How is a 4050 over a 3060... Laptop GPU..?
    plewis00's avatar
Pretty much on par with the 4050 more efficient. 3060 can edge it out in some cases as it has a wider memory bus, also the kind of laptops that had a 3060 are often higher tier (broadly speaking).

Is this any good? Been on the look out for a half decent laptop, mainly for editing photos (Lightroom) so need a accurate screen. Also wouldn't mind doing a bit of gaming but don't want to spend a fortune

Be careful with this purchase although it says "Ryzen 7" amd has started naming its chips in a weird way since 2023, so this cpu "Ryzen 7 7435HS" is using the old Zen 3 architecture.
This deal is still amazing though...
    plewis00's avatar
It is a Ryzen 7, this CPU is very poorly named as the second digit ('4' here) is meant to be the chip class, eg 5 would by Ryzen 5, 7 would be Ryzen 7, 4 is completely meaningless but on AMD's sheet says it's a Ryzen 3 so I doubt they even know. It does appear to be a Ryzen 7 (Zen 3) 8C/16T chip with no integrated GPU - similar to something like a 6800HS.

Is this laptop better than the Lenovo legion 5 with Ryzen 7, 32gb ddr4, rtx 3070?
    plewis00's avatar
Probably not. 3070 is closer to the 4060 and will blow past a 4050 even if it's less efficient.

    Heads up guys.

I had a Lenovo Legion laptop which developed a strange problem with its USB ports. It became so bad that any external hard drive (HDD, SSD or NVME - powered or not) connected to any USB port would randomly disconnect and reconnect. Sometimes the drive would remain disconnected until physically unplugged and plugged in again.

Apparently Lenovo know this problem exists, and it's also on other series of laptops too, e.g. LOQ series, but they're not fixing it.

I myself will never buy another Lenovo again.

It sounds very much like a driver issue... I'm on my second Lenovo gaming laptop, and I love both. The first one had windows pre installed, the second one I chose to save a bit and get it without.
After the first Lenovo I moved to Asus, the battery failed twice in 2 years even though it cost me more than both lenovo combined.
Now I am back on Lenovo and it's been great for the last 14 months or so...
Anyway this looks like a good deal! I am very curious about this 4050 performance!
