Probably need to shift stock before there's an inevitable new version to link in to the upcoming "extended remastered" cinema release.

The cinema release is exactly the same 4k remaster that is on these discs....just they have never been shown at cinemas only the Theatrical.

So what you are buying here is exactly what you would see at the cinema.

If they included the fan edit where they cut the 3 bad Hobbit films into one decent one, it could be great

Discount shows up for me once I proceed to checkout. And now I'm removing it before I end up divorced

Is there any way to mark this post funny and helpful at the same time?

Can I pay extra to not have the hobbit films included

    After all...

    Why shouldn't I?

Over 20£ for each movie. Not a deal.

Well it is a deal because it's the best price available and £50 lower than normal. So it's a deal. It's a box set with added stuff. Plus the extended editions are like two films each, they are even split that way.

Great price. Not a fan of the films though. Too much of a book fan.

I wqs trying to connet "Critically Acclaimed'" and "The Hobbit (film)" together - I still have very fond memories of reading The Hobbit when quite young indeed - probably the first 'proper' book I read.

The brown disc seems to rule them all

Just annoying it doesn’t have all the extras, there were tons in the dvd and original Blu-ray release but the picture quality of the movies here is far better.   Nice set for displaying as well, so keeping my dvd book based release and got this for watching the movies.
    FoshFongers's avatar
I was just thinking that, watched through all those in my early teens from those same 4 dvd sets (but only a couple of the six or so film commentaries!)

I'll wait for the Dolby Vision and Atmos version

Huh? From what I see, both trilogies feature DV and DA.
  12. stingersplash's avatar
Can't they just release these for a tenner each at this point? Or at least have a set with all the bonus bluray discs?
  13. Tiberiusric's avatar
I get it's a deal over the current price but it's still very high and with hardly any extras I feel I'm actually getting ripped off a bit
  14. happenstance's avatar
id pay more if they cut down the hobbit into one watchable film.
    Ozzyman23's avatar
You should take a look at the Hartwell Hobbit Edit - a masterful display of editing skill to condense the trilogy into one movie and better align it with the book (edited)
  15. MusicmanJP's avatar
The 4k LOTR is just the same 2k transfer badly upscaled with DNR applied and a colour grade to match The Hobbit, an inferior production. This set does not reflect 'ultimate' and once a true 4k transfer of the trilogy is available this will horribly devalue. (edited)

Like the fact that the Lord Of the Rings box art colours doesn’t match up with the Disc colours even though they finally get the correct colour order on the boxes after all these years.

Ordered and heat added thank you

I would only pay this kind of price if it included the physical extras that the original extended editions did. The argonath bookends and osgiliath model are awesome but they were both quite fragile.
