    Very good example of claustrophobic sci-fi horror, if you like the genre you won't be disappointed

    I really enjoyed the movie back in the day. Mira Sorvino is lovely. I enjoyed seeing her in Replacement Killers with Chow Yun Fat too.

    great movie. there is couple of them Mimic 2 2001 and 3 from 2003.

    Del Toro got put through the wringer with this, his 1st Hollywood film (It was all his baby) but as it was a big budget for the weinstiens, they wanted to control it as studios often do, even firing Del Toro at one point (Mira Sorvino threatened to walk if they didnt re-hire him)
    The original release was not his vision, im not sure how much this one is (Del Toro didnt say he made this "directors cut" in an interview I was reading about this). He had a more religious reason for the creatures & a bleak ending originally.
    I havent seen the directors cut, but it seems to get worse reviews than the original. Doesnt mean its worse or better. I intend to try it for myself , but probably should rewatch Mimic 1st.
