About this deal

After discovering both that Staples was still alive in the UK, and Verbatim make chargers I decided to take the plunge on a pair of these. One for my pinecil and one for general use.
Seem pretty good and a reputable brand.

On the plus side, it looks like it is good for travel with the interchangeable plugs. It's not entirely clear but it seems to be saying it can output 65W on a single USB C port, or 65W shared between them.

No Programmable Power Supply mode, but that is somewhat unusual on sub 100W chargers.

The sad thing is to see Verbatim/Mitsubishi Chemical whoring their name out like that. They didn't make it, it's just rebranded. Would much prefer if the actual OEM put their name on it.

I didn't think it was them specifically, and a rebrand but I'd rather have a brand name I can shout at when my house burns down than a randomly named Chinese charger.

I think you're right with the 65w split across the ports.
My pinecil is 65w, and I wouldn't be running anything else off that one, my pixel 7 Pro is 30w, leaving 35w for my watch and headphones. (edited)

I cannot find it on amazon, same brand? You got a link. Thanks

Good post! Also looking for a charger for the Pinecil.

Are the detachable plug pins (i.e., no earth wire) safe because it's a double insulated product, so no worries using it for stretches of time at 65W soldering?

Not sure. I always use a separate connection to the earth screw on my pinecil.
I have an esd mat that's grounded, and the pinecil is grounded to that. Then my rubber mat goes over the top. (edited)

This looks decent, good spot. PPS is what Pixels want

Damn, this has PPS and a good form factor for travelling. I just purchased the Tecknet, which has close enough specs as this one. I much prefer this with detachable plugs.
Hot, but shame about the delivery cost. (edited)

    Oh damn..

Varbatim, the god of optical media.

Seems Mitsubishi has sold off the brand to CMC-M and they are now using the brand to sell 3D printing stuff and random bits.
    Rather  sad state of affairs.

I still remember when LG and Samsung were the "cheap Korean" TVs no one wanted to trust.

anyone received these, can you comment on quality?

Not really a review, but I've done a 10 hour soldering session using a 65w pinecil at 400 degrees without issue. Iron behaved and the psu didn't get warm. Should be close to maximum output
