Smooth, subtle and golden in colour, Leffe Blonde is an elegant, smooth and fruity Belgian Abbey style beer
It has a spicy aftertaste with a hint of bitter orange
While this is a perfect aperitif beer, it also tastes delicious with a wide variety of dishes, especially red meat, sweet and sour dishes and white mould cheese, such as Camembert, Brie, Brillat-Savarin or Saint-Marcellin. Leffe Blond is best served at 5-6°C in a beer chalice, which will allow all the flavours to come through. Leffe was founded by the Fathers of the Abbey in 1240 and their craft, expertise and brewing tradition can still be enjoyed today

It says the country of origin is Belgium

'origin' just means where it comes from, not where it's brewed. This is the horrible UK brewers Leffe it tastes nothing like the Belgium brewed version

As a side note - Lidl currently seems to have a selection of strong beers in the 'specials' section - the Leffe knock off 'Archivist' is produced in Belgium and is 6.6% @ £5.99 for 4x330ml52987646-I8exP.jpg

Is this the decent Belgian stuff or the tripe they brew in the UK?

Ah, the usual question on every Leffe deal

The proper Belgian stuff that is nice is 6.6%. The second rate, UK brewed garbage we now get is 6.0% and tastes way worse.

I used to love this stuff years ago, has this also fallen prey to the big corp brand stylized taste reduction process? ARGHHH!

Lager has suffered the most from this, they ALL now suck, I don't mind the Japanese Asahi (brewed in Italy), because it's dry and I like that, but taste wise it lacks. We went on holiday a few months back and stopped at this Spanish deli that sold Victoria Malaga lager, it was a genuine import, and tasted so much nicer than anything being sold in pubs now. Thankfully we have an awesome local brewed ale industry in this country which makes up for it a bit, but sometimes I just want a good lager on tap at a pub, they don't exist. We tolerate trash here. Sorry, went on a bit of a rant there.

No, blame Brexit. Instead of importing the good brews, now they contract out to big factory breweries in the UK and the end result is off tasting from the original.

Picked some of this up in Lidl the other day but wouldn't have if I'd known it's another "brewed in the UK" imitation. Must be enough ignorant people out there thinking they're drinking Heineken, Becks etc. when it's nothing like the real thing and I suppose breweries don't care if it's cheaper to produce, especially post Brexit.

If someone orders this could they get back to us with the country of origin please? (edited)

I got some from the last 12x 330ml deal on here. Website claimed brewed in Belgium, bottle said brewed in the uk.

It didn’t taste as good as proper Leffe so I asked for and received a refund. It’s not as nice as it should be but it’s worth having for nowt.

Off to France in a month and will be enjoying many many bottles of the proper stuff.

Got this UK brewed stuff other week and it's a patch on the Belgian stuff. Not terrible but less tasty for sure.

This was great years ago before costs were cut by brewing it here and the abv went down to 6% Still decent compared to many others 'brewed in the UK' under licence. I preferred the Nectar flavoured version, it disappeared a while back so now I buy the blonde when its on offer.
